For Joseph May's 8x5 contest Using Georgia O'Keeffe's Abstraction White Rose as inspiration

in layers I rest a dreamer at best now slightly distressed petal wrapped poultice there's nothing amiss settled and dreaming no longer screaming long past redeeming fashioned in flowers undenied powers even when all sours when white, black and grey makes up the bouquet let her have her say lest rose's abyss your last reminisce

Something about a bouquet of grey draws me, perhaps the fascination of mystery, this is a beauty, congratulations-

Thank you Michelle, there is a distinct beauty within grey - not drab at all. Thanks for your kind words

Fine art class one of first assignments a 5x7 any flower , wish I'd heard of Georgia O'Keeffe's, love her flowers. This is stimulating and feels so free, Dilly. Love. If I may, I think you should do a contest on choosing her flowers..eckraphis!! The van gogh's undergrowth are a smash...many on potd :)

Great idea Anaya, although might be a bit distracting reading 35. I'm thrilled with the entries of the current contest - best ever.

A petal wrapped poultice sounds like a panacea especially when feeling long past redeeming, yes hints of catatonia and melancholia also resignation and acceptance, wonderful poetry Dilly, cheers David

Poultice isn't particularly a nice sounding word but I do love the cure all connotations from the past. I did slightly conflate the theme of the poem with not feeling well myself. No screaming involved for me though. Thank you for your encouraging words *hopefully I'm also on the right side of redemption too :)

Appreciating O’Keeffe’s paintings is not something that comes easily to everyone. Even so, I am amazed at the delicacy of her strokes and the pastel softness of her color choices in the folds of her flowers. A 5 syllable limit didn’t deter your talent, Dilly.

I can't stop laughing imagining all 4000 active members of PS all putting their reading glasses on at the same time and causing the Earth to move lol

I had a good old peruse when you mentioned it Lin, some require a more trained eye than others but once you start looking you start seeing :)

Comment as you wish, Dilly and let the comments stir. I appreciate the feminine innuendos of her artistic talent.

I think it would cause a stir if I wrote regarding what I see in most of her work :) they are always beautiful regardless. Thank you for your kind words Lin, I'm encouraged to hear you felt this worked despite the constraints of the syllables x

Dear DD, this is absolutely gorgeous! And i can almost smell the fragrance of the rose resting in layers, how creative and clever is this, everytime you write, you always write one that is so very moving and your rhymes here just flow seamlessly! Absolute pleasure reading this! Best wishes. Sending you light always

Keeping every line to 5 syllables was really tricky - I hadn't anticipated how difficult that could be! I'm not usually a fan of Georgia O'Keeffe's work but liked this one, it's kind of similar to the abstract art I used in https://www.poetrysoup.com/poem/jetstream_-_kazuo_shiraga_1706294 thank you for your kind words, appreciated
