About Balance
Each morning just before I arise
I make my peace with my Holy One
She has always been called fair and wise
The goddess of equilibrium
She is not a goddess for the young
Those who are still gifted with balance
But for the old whose song has been sung -
Who have long been stripped of their talents
Those of us who have now reached that point
Pray to her as we put on our pants
That the trouser goes on the right joint
And we avoid the unsightly dance
Then we pray that our walk is steady
As we head for the breakfast table
We pray that our forks will be ready
And our coffee cups will be stable
So begins each day with our new lord
To balance us is her daily chore
We passed to her the righteousness sword
So her actions keep us off the floor
