A Poetic Destination
A POETIC DESTINATION
I began writing poetry at fourteen years
Of age,
An inherited gift from my grand-father
Whose sage,
Advice I always heeded,
Always strong with poetic guidance,
When needed.
My darling parents were not
Poetically inclined,
Loved them a lot, but poetry
Suggestions from them declined,
Poetry in our family had skipped,
A generation,
The poetic train of life had missed
A station!
On I went for decades writing
My poems,
Sometimes felt they were not good enough
Kept saying, Jenny get out of the doldrums!
Wanted to read other poetry, and
Share mine,
Then, two years ago, my friend read
My poems and said, what fine,
Work this is,
Go onto a poetry site, or else I’ll
Do it for you,
I took notice and immediately took
Her up on her cue.
Looked on the internet and found
Poetry Soup,
How did I ever survive without our
Wonderful group,
A friendly supporting, loving united
Troup.
What an amazing move 2 years ago
I made,
I will remain here for as long
As God grants me, as never before
Have I had poetic ideas cascade,
And thanks to my muse who collects,
Them and mentally files them,
I’ll never run out of themes
For as always, my muse stays ahead
and projects!
