A New Day
The eastern sky is streaked with fire
As the sun peeps over Earth's rim.
It's time to seek the face of God--
To talk and fellowship with Him.
Bright daisies wash their faces
In the early morning dew.
Lofty tree tops bow and nod
Against a screen of powder blue.
A meadowlark in yellow vest
Repeats a crystal melody.
A mockingbird replies in kind,
From an aged, but blooming, apple tree.
The whispering honeysuckle wind,
In trees and grass along the way,
Like Someone, unseen, walking
In the coolness of the day.
In this new day that God has made,
Rejoice, my soul, rejoice and sing.
It's another precious pearl of grace
To add onto an endless string.
