A Moment In Time
A moment in time
A so-gentle touch that was given in passing
Just 'Good morning', 'Hello', nothing more,
Saw the years fade away and raw feelings emerge
From a dusty and locked secret door.
The sea was caressed
By fingers of light,
Grass swayed on the dunes
Like lost dreams in the night.
That soft gentle touch brought to life shattered dreams
Of love time had hidden away,
A mere page in a book that is dog-eared and worn
Was opened by chance here today.
A mere moment in time
Not knowing the truth
Yet wishing to feel
A lost love from my youth.
The reason it ended lies lost in a mist
That swirls through a time cluttered mind,
Still the pain gathers pace and each day takes it's toll
Of a farewell I can't seem to find.
Her mystical eyes
Left a festering hole
That is open and raw
In my wandering soul.
Life carries on in it's time honoured way
Yet that moment is still out of reach,
When I thought new found love would stay there by my side
As we walked hand in hand on that beach.
The world wends it's way
While the tides rise and fall
But the past is still deaf
To my echoing call.
Just a moment in time
unheeded it came,
like a fresh breath of life,
invading my thoughts
ever calling her name.
