A Covid Christmas 2020
The mistletoe is banned this year
of carolers you must fear
No visits from our Santa dear
spike the eggnog for any cheer
Toilet paper is a Christmas stuffer
alone and lonely we must all suffer
Wear a mask as you eat outside
Christmas 2020 we must abide
A real blue Christmas if you live in a state of blue
snitch on your neighbors if families more than two
The only hope to see grandad at all
as if you can get him on a zoom call
The Christmas tree is looking bare
no Christmas cards germs everywhere
Wash your hands a hundred times
no singing out loud it is a crime
Small businesses must be closed
mega corporations have profits overflow
Home delivery is the safest way
to avoid the threat of this modern plague
So is the nigh befalls us all
let us each alone in our hearts recall
The way Christmas used to be
a holiday of joy of friends and family
Of feast and worship and gratitude
for the gift of our Savior for a world anew
And let us pray that for next year
we celebrate Christmas again in full cheer
