A Broken Dream
There’s a lake called the lake of Illusions,
And there’s a house right by its side.
It’s a house where I’m hiding,running away from memories.
It’s where I’m destined to be forever.
The rules don’t apply here, no.
The storm is the king of these lands.
And if you look closely,
Then, through the impenetrable fog and violent thunderstorm,
you will see a small, pathetic dot, wrapped in a blanket of sorrow,
Which can only escape to the land of dreams,
Where it can, even for a few seconds, plunge into the abyss of the happy past.
And that dot…is me.
My eyelids, heavy from fresh tears, close,
And I’m slowly falling into the depth of dreams.
At first, it’s shape is a beautiful, golden carriage,
With two magnificent, beautiful horses with raven black blinders.
It also comes in the shape of a surprisingly kind and gallant coachman
Who calles you “Miss” and makes you forget you ever had any troubles
In life.
Then, when he opens the doors,
And I find myself in the heaven of pillows,
Upholstered in all kinds of silk and velvet, my dream transforms itself
into a gorgeous, antique mansion from the days of Yore - a blooming garden
With talking flowers, bustling ladies in luxurious ball gowns
Woven by the best tailors of that time, and gallant gentlemen swirling in a dance full of grace.
I walk around, eyes sparkling with joy, and glimmering with the delight of
conquering the unknown for the very first time.
But then,
Comes the moment I have been desperately, helplessly waiting for.
A blessing in disguise.
I feel his glance, so I turn around, and our eyes meet.
Just like the first time. Just like always.
He comes closer, not saying a word. And he doesn’t have to.
We both know that we have one last night
Before I wake up into the hideous reality. So he looks at me,
Eyes filled with love. Our hands slowly touch, merge into one whole, and we lose ourselves in the dance of a lifetime.
