A Beach Ball
Listen to poem:
In the realm of memory, where time looms still,
There lies a tale, a mystery, that I shall reveal.
On this beach, where laughter and joy reside,
A beach ball lingers in the rafters' hide.
For seven years, I've come to this pool, for delight,
And there it remains—a peculiar sight.
Stuck in the rafters, high above the ground,
A beach ball suspended, with no one around.
But this is no ordinary ball.
For within its core, a secret does enthrall.
Contained within the essence of a breath,
From unknown lungs, a sign of health
Though they departed, never to return,
Their essence lingers; a lesson to learn
Unseen and unnoticed, their memory resides.
In this forgotten beach ball, where time subsides.
I ponder the places where fragments of me,
Have been left behind for others to foresee.
Caught sight of but unknown, known but not seen,
Recalled gently, in moments serene
I wonder who I was in those passing years.
When we crossed paths, my friends and peers
There are moments when we reunite.
With long-lost friends, under a starry night.
They hold memories, items, sayings, dances, and more.
That I created and that I once bore.
These fragments of me, scattered in time,
Are cherished by others, a reason to rhyme.
There are people I'd love to ask,
Who was I in that moment, as we mask?
I hope my fragments are beyond just air.
Are the reason they smile and hold something dear.
In their hands, they hold a piece of my past.
A link to a moment that will forever last.
Fragments of memories, unforgotten and true,
Piece me together as someone who once knew
The joy and the laughter, the love and the pain,
In this realm of memories, where time does refrain,
So let us cherish these gnomish links.
Of the unforgotten, the moments that bear us think,
