The Power of Pain

We all know it to well an emotion we are unable to hide, a feeling we cannot escape even if we tried. As the days passed by Patrice felt broken there was no end to her sleepless nights no cure for her babies tears and no one to comfort her broken heart at least that’s what she thought.

For many nights Patrice found herself battling with her inner self, as there were so many un-answered questions. There had to be an easy fix she thought. The pain was too much for one individual to bare, she tried talking to her friends but they all were too busy living their own lives dealing with their own situations not one had the time to stop.

All she needed was an ear someone to listen, someone to show they cared but everyone was to pre-occupied by one situation or another, besides none of her friends really cared much for Stephan as their all believed that Patrice was too good for him.

Months had passed and both Stephan and Patrice were growing further and further apart, it was toxic. The atmosphere within the home was cold and dark, the children were constantly at war and Stephan was becoming very aggressive.

Most times Stephan will return home drunk and high and Patrice and the children will hide in fear he was always angry nothing pleased him. The tension between them both escalated the children were unhappy and Patrice well she believed that she was going insane.

She tried to hide her problems from her family but they knew something was wrong as she was losing weight and distancing herself. At this point she felt as though no one understood her sorrows but God.

As the days passed, Patrice and the children saw less of Stephan as he bonded more with his new family. When he was at home he would spend most of his time sleeping on the sofa, he no longer had time for the girl’s, as foreign substances and alcohol became his only passion.

The family was dying and what was left of it was slowly dissolving by fear it was hard for anyone to see the inner beauty of either Stephan's or Patrice's soul. The children isolated themselves away in their rooms and grew afraid to show their feelings.

Patrice didn't know what to do as she was afraid to tell her story and too ashamed to ask for help, so like the children she too hid herself away it felt as though there were living in a cocoon while he searched for love elsewhere, she seek comfort in the Lord and began writing letters to God.

Psalms 34 vs. 18 "The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
