Mystery Of The Apples

It was a quiet morning out in Saanich, British Columbia in early October. Edward was out in the orchard admiring his beautiful apple trees. He was excited about picking apples and making treats like apple pie, and apple muffins. He thought about going back to get his basket and collect some apples that day but decided he would pick apples another day. The next day Edward went back to his apple orchard with a basket in hand all excited about picking apples. But to his dismay all of the apples had disappeared from his apple trees. Edward was stunned. What had happened to all of his apples? He then noticed that nearby his barn was open. I always keep my barn shut tight thought Edward to himself. He slowly began to walk towards his barn. Hidden deep in the barn he saw a stranger with an owl on her shoulder and all of the apples from his apple tree. She was old and looked like she could have been a grandmother. What is your name asked Edward to the lady who was startled when he had entered his barn. My name is Granny said the lady. Okay here is another question for you. What are you doing with all of my apples? I was going to take them home and eat them. But they don’t belong to you said Edward. A forlorn look came across Granny’s face. I thought they were my apples. She then quickly gave Edward the apples, walked out of the barn with her owl perched on her shoulder and vanished into thin air. To this day Edward has a feeling that he encountered a ghost but will never know for sure.
