HAMLET PLACE

AMUSING MUSINGS:
Micro Tale #388: "HAMLET PLACE" by Leon Enriquez
(Friday, 04 May 2018, Australia)
~~~~~~~~~
Home away from home is a tiny suburb of Florey in the huge land mass of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) where Canberra the capital city presides.
~~~~~~~~~
Yes, we have come so far from equatorial Singapore to the pulse of rustic sensations. We retreat to a suburban house on a tranquil street called Hamlet Place. Perhaps the spirit of the renowned English bard Mister Shakespeare would be willing to take up residence here for a short sojourn, and share a few timely tips.
~~~~~~~~~
Autumn here is somewhat mellow but greenery still abounds everywhere around. No doubt, the harvest off the fertile lands has been fruitful and the barns are full. Now, the fabled winding down of pre-winter is in full swing. That's the story of the autumnal proclivity. Yet, the climate is somewhat refreshing with the day time sunny and bright despite the frequent icy chills as the cold winds blow in random ooze and squeeze.
~~~~~~~~~
That's the paradox of a warm feeling oozing in-between the draughts of cold temperatures so becoming of the late autumnal inclinations. Put another way, in this place autumn is cold yet the sun makes for fair compensation to body temperature as you venture outdoors.
~~~~~~~~~
By this quaint and sober neighbourhood, people keep to themselves mostly. A private indifference holds the esteemed estate in its own sense of sacred space. Almost always, people are either indoors doing their own thing, or away minding their own business or at their workplace making a living.
~~~~~~~~~
As temporary occupants on number nine Hamlet Place, our days are spent attending to the domestic chores associated with baby care. Yes, Ann and yours truly have come Down Under with Clara to be with our son Michael to live for a while with their infant baby boy Axel Caleb who is now a mere 54-day old offspring. Yes, our grandson is a bubbly bundle of bouncing bravado!
~~~~~~~~~
Yes, I think that this timely retreat to a quiet vicinity on the vast continent of this Australian capital city will work its charm on all of us for certain. For starters, we feel in a somewhat "ulu outskirts" quite removed from the bustle of Singapore as we know it. (Note: "ulu outskirts" means remote outskirts.)
~~~~~~~~~
The problem is the answer to the question that impinges upon our curious senses. Our sensory perceptions tend to be either sharper or more blunt. For whatever we choose to go with, the circumstances dictate our modus operandi surely. Especially in the way we encounter reality with our own touch of relativity, whatever that may be!
~~~~~~~~~
My curious eyes have seen quite so many preoccupations since our arrival at this remote locale. But the thoughts that wing my way are acceptably refreshing to say the least. As always, visits to the shopping malls can be somewhat revealing. They tell the same story no matter which country of origin you hail from. It's really about buying and selling and the moments in-between.
~~~~~~~~~~
The land mass here is simply breathtaking with a sense of the ordinary and the miraculous. Everywhere I visit tells of the curious and quaint ways of Homo sapiens. We are so much more alike and alive than we think we're not!
~~~~~~~~~
Our mood swings, our appetites and our desires border upon a passion for self-indulgence and kinship. Fear and conformity seem to massage our sensorial well-being. Strange as the facts may seem to differ, it points us back to the sublime knowing that we human beings -- no matter the race or skin colour -- share a common and comical oneness. This is the bond that unites us, each to each, ever within reach of our common humanity.
~~~~~~~~~
No doubt, I will have many more things to write about as the moments mix and mingle with my private affairs of body and mind as well as heart and soul in a swirl of sheer delight. And I will most certainly illustrate my thoughts upon a brief moment of random whimsy or fancy.
~~~~~~~~~
Yes, simply to amuse myself. Perhaps with frugal meditation and calming contemplation. Also, I will channel inspired modes of poetic outbursts and frequent writes as my feelings rush out to meet the typical and the mundane routines of daily living.
~~~~~~~~~
I will be resolute to entertain my solitary meanderings on or about Hamlet Place as autumn cedes to wintry weather that must surely gain a brisk convergence. Acceptance is the easy avenue to take on whatever comes your way. And attitude is the way you face life fast and furious, or else plain and mundane.
~~~~~~~~~
More of such interesting commentaries will come to fore in due course. Yes, certainly for my own mental health and well-being. I foresee many of such private intersections for my own consumption.
~~~~~~~~~
In time, I will slowly but surely usher new scripts for my iPad Air2 to record and conspire as dashing signposts of a memory walk keepsake. Yes to tell me where I am, where I've been, and where I am heading as words trek episodes in my Journey Journal page. Let it be so then. Till then, I will conspire with zestful sleep to keep my stamina up tempo.
