CONVERSATION

AMUSING MUSINGS:
Micro Tale #401: "VERY VERY SHORT STORY" by Leon Enriquez
~~~~~~~~~
Story #2: CONVERSATION
~~~~~~~~~

By now, the evening darkness has swept over the stone bench by this breezy seaside rendezvous. The salty waves assume a lulling rhythm that is quite hypnotic. No words are spoken, yet there is a certain communion. They sit together like a fond memory of spring time exuberance. Each stares blankly at the distant lights. Satisfied smiles signal sweet contentment. Yes, a silent conversation in the interlude of eventide by the sea.
~~~~~~~~~
Mellow and somewhat frail-looking with age, there is still a vital sparkle in their eyes. Together for more than fifty years, the old couple look like a vintage picture deposited from another era. A look of curious wonder and fascination tells pretty much in a brief glimpse. In-sync beyond entropy, they need no words for good company. Just a simple touch and a deep afterglow shines brightly from their countenance. After all, touch is the precursor of a deeper understanding presiding here. An affirmation of a sacred union cherished beyond space and time.
~~~~~~~~~
From time to time, they hold hands and seem to nod in agreement about some sensorial thought. It seems that telepathy has endowed them the gift of transcending voice permutations. More is said yet unsaid if verbal conversation is anything to go by. Such a communion is certainly a fond treasure. Priceless and wonderful to behold.
