BLOOM BLUSH

AMUSING MUSINGS:
Micro Tale #351:
BLOOM BLUSH” by Leon Enriquez

~~~~~~~~~
What can we say about the old year? Yes, a year now freshly consigned to near distant memory.
~~~~~~~~~
Yes, 2017 was a fairly good vintage considering all the crazy happenings of human activities all round the world.
~~~~~~~~~
Yet, we managed to reach the last day of December with some semblance of optimism. We even made some progress — here and there — with our various agendas and aspirations despite our own insipid reservations.
~~~~~~~~~
Obviously, the odd year presided over many dissident voices and tribal conflicts, protests and commotions, and painful confrontations and contradictions. Violent actions created violent outcomes and unnecessary sufferings for those abused.
~~~~~~~~~
The paradoxical and ironical rode in tandem with the whimsical and comical in the mundane and ordinary meanderings of life everywhere on this lovely planet in the twenty-first century. Fortunes changed as the tragic and catastrophic clashes caused much damage and loss.
~~~~~~~~~
Nature unleashed upheavals and destructive episodes of natural disasters side-by-side man-made wars and violent atrocities. Somehow, one wonders why humankind is relentless in self-destructive habits. Often, afflictions of violent madness caused hate to flourish instead of love.
~~~~~~~~~
The diaspora of tribal human faces and the violent persecution of certain races and people continued to wreck havoc on human decency and integrity. Who can feel secure and happy when certain segments of human beings are ostracised and marginalised?
~~~~~~~~~
Obviously, the ugly side of our humanity juxtaposed the mindful compassion of our higher aspirations. The year exposed the lows and highs of human decency without censor. We share the perils and hazards of those who are caught in the crossfire of inhumane conflicts. There is no safety in numbers no matter whose side you take.
~~~~~~~~~
As always, human beings show their best character when facing the horrors of deprivation, suffering and pain. There is a quality of resilience and tolerance that empowers each soul to bear the immense cruelty inflicted by others of the same species. It is the will to survive that endures even the most horrible of atrocities.
~~~~~~~~~
The old year was not going away without a finale worth remembering. It was a wet Sunday of undisrupted rain starting from late morning. This frenzy of aqueous rainfall continued relentlessly even as the emergent 2018 struck a new cord in the darkness of an abrupt change. Yes, a very wet Monday on the first day of the new year.
~~~~~~~~~
By our highrise apartment, we witnessed the intermittent fireworks display hour upon hour till that final splurge at the midnight hour where the new year emerged with fiery sparkles in the nearby city skyline.
~~~~~~~~~
In Chinese geomancy, the fluid flow of water especially from heaven to earth is an auspicious occasion. It heralds the symbolic aspect of prosperity and wealth as healthy growth and enduring life of natural abundance.
~~~~~~~~~
What a lovely outpouring as an obvious overflow from Sunday to Monday with such fluid gracefulness? Yes, a new year of fertile plenty and wet finesse as only nature can orchestrate beyond human intervention. Wouldn’t that be miraculous?
~~~~~~~~~
Strangely enough, the rainy episode stopped by noontime and then a cool Monday to bestow the goodwill of New Year’s Day here in Singapore by the city fringe! By Chinese standards, it means auspicious tidings with money in the bank when the rains stop. Now, surely there will be more miracles yet to come our way. Yes, a bloom blush naturally!

    Leon, this is actually quite good. In regard to paragraph 7 you might find this tidbit from 2017 of interest: In April Jehovah's Witnesses were declared an extremist organization by the Russian government. This puts them on the same level as Isis as AL Quaeda. Their buildings are being confiscated, their Bible's and website banned. How does a group known for pacifism and brotherhood get labeled a terrorist group? States tuned...
