As a poet ,what is your motivation to poetize each day & sometimes blog or contest therewith with your peers

It is all about connecting with others. I feel that if poets do not read each other's words, hardly anybody else will do it. For me, it makes no sense to write what nobody else will ever read. That was what motivated me 21 years ago to come online and join poetry groups. Making friends and learning from them makes us all better as writers.

Brian, when I began writing poetry as a young girl and I wrote of my life and the pain I was in (grandmas suggestion) I wrote of things I could not say. But, as time went on I began writing other themes although they had no form, just words on a page. It was not until I came to PS in 2008 that my poetry and me grew. My motivation to write is that there are too many words swirling in my head that need release. Yes, I like blogs to connect with other poets, in another way besides poetry and see what is happening in our poetic community. I have always enjoyed your informative blogs ~ Constance

Sadly Brian, my childhood home burnt to the ground and I lost all my early writings, and I had a breakdown in early 2012, it happens to poets sometimes and destroyed thousands of my poems, even the ones on PS from 2008 to early August 2012 (soupers never delete your poetry just step back if you must) but after a near death experience all I wanted was pen and paper and I came back to PS and here I am, A okay now ~Constance

Since joining in 2007 I have always blogged regularly in this workshop (indeed i 2010 I published a limited edition retrospective thereof which a few folk purchased).It is like a conversation we would have if we met face-to-face as in the old vocational 'nightschool' (pre-internet) days
