Awake

At times like this, I dream, Awake
Its like no other,
Beautiful,
Magical,
And dark
Its like flying without your feet ever leaving the ground
Or feeling like your running when your body is frozen underground
There’s no hope,
Just drops of tears,
And the fear that follows
Or do you ever wonder about the darkness found in the shadows that lurk in the night
Its almost the same as the magic found in ones imagination
But the feeling of absence over time, that will do something, anything and everything to ones soul
The pitch blackness when I think about you
Its like no other,
Painful,
Dreadful,
And somehow, pleasant to the eye
If the crown fits let it be
All the jewels should be set free
The tides of the water await for thee
And again the light will shine one day
And against the clock, fate will astray
Its like the feeling of being a billion miles away
Or may be,
Just may be,
Its everything and nothing of the unforeseen
I sometimes dream, beyond the description of words
Beyond the eye itself
The pure imagination in ones mind
And yes, I dreamt this, Awake

Mariama, welcome to PoetrySoup. This poem captures the imagination and flows like thoughts that are straight from a writer's heart. Keep writing and keep posting. This is a terrific first post! And I would label this one as this type: Free Verse.

I really like the descriptions in your poem and your "billion miles away" simile. Great free verse and welcome to poetrysoup!
