When Silence Speaks

Inelegant, the silence wakes and yawns,
pretending not to notice or to care;
while symphonies of chaos greet the dawn
and ashes of our Banner fill the air.
The few, with vacant visage cry the creeds
~march on with signs remastered from the old
in broths of propaganda where it breeds,
the willingly disposed in boredom's fold.
Onlookers pause and gasp in rapt surprise;
unruly hordes deface the hallowed halls,
like "Kristallnacht" they scare what they despise,
too late for recompense when conscience calls
or quell fallacious lectures as they wreak...
dumbfounded when the fruits of silence speaks.

The scenes "ashes of our Banner" and "Kristallnacht" create a terrifying picture of the consequences. I love how the poem makes a powerful statement about the dangers of silence in the face of destruction. It leaves me wondering, what will break the silence before it's too late? - Blessings, Daniel

How youv personified silence is beyond clever. And theres so much wisdom , and observations done around of all that which goes on through poetry. Some of the lines made me pause and reflect, as they emanate a philosophical hint, that gets readers to contemplate such as “ like "Kristallnacht" they scare what they despise,“ powerful! And so descriptive! Meaningful sonnet, very unique touch too. Inspired to do a sonnet today. Pleasure reading you after a while
