A Coat of Love

Bought at a thrift store
   The color was bright
    And the price was right
    By a mother ,a widow

    What did it matter
     If it had a patch
Or the buttons did not match
     The lining was thick
     And tightly attached

     Laughter flowed free
At the sight of her coat
     She felt disconnected
      From those who had more
      And families of three

      When winter wind blew wide
It chilled them to the marrow
       In their coveted fancy coats
But hers , kept her warm

She walked by with a new pride
That she tried not to hide

She knew , her wealth came from
        her Mothers love and the
        Warmth of a coat
