The Edge of Despair

I stood at heartbreaks precipice
She led me to the ledge
she filled my soul with blinding hope
then pushed me over the edge

My brain gave warning of the peril
Of pain that would ensue
My heart, determined, undeterred
With nothing my mind could do

Her words consumed my every thought
Her song engendered trust
believing that she cared for me
 until that bitter thrust

As I fell, I prayed the ground
 would wash this anguish away
 Returning me to my solitude
In the depths where I'm destined to stay

I hope this hurt will Linger on
and to my heart this plea
 Remember when you yearn again
There is no love for thee

This is tragic, my prayers are with you now though you wrote this in 2018. I'm so sorry you have been so devastated. I hope you are ok, wherever you are, and that one day you'll be back on PS to say that things have gotten better.

A beautifully touching write, Joe. The Midas touch with this one. The pain and woes of this love and friendship. A topic that many great poets Have written of, you have done it justice.

Well said Joe, first time I've read you and I'm impressed, I'm sure many readers can relate, the title drew me in, and the write compelled me to stay!
