casting doubt

on the harbour wall thinking about life ~ whilst ripples stirred in the sea

a porpoise swam past never to look back ~ a washed up siren wept free

some voice called out its a sign of the times ~ that she was always a he

as i drowned my life flashed by ~ yet all of the bad bits were new to me

It's quite natural for life to cast doubts, as it's full of uncertainties and unexpected turns and expressing your doubts can be the first step towards gaining clarity. I like the term "sign of the times" Another fab Monoku!

Though short, so much imagery adorns your monoku.

Hello David, How haunting! The imagery - ripples, porpoise, siren - creates a stark scene. The twist with "a sign of the times" is genius, leaving the reader reeling. The final line cuts deep, hinting at a past of hidden struggles. Powerful! - Blessings, Daniel

All interesting and delivered in such a non judgemental tone. I'm pretty sure the majority of us shouldn't focus on regrets and just be kinder to ourselves. Always fascinating ponderables David, well done
