Embrace

Embrace all gifts that come your way, good or bad
For they have a purpose in your life.
Embrace and accept all friends your find,
For they come to teach you something about life.
Embrace all things happening in your life
For there is a purpose they serve.
Nothing happens by mistake, everything happens for a reason.
Embrace and love yourself enough,
For no one can fulfill that empty space you feel inside.
You cannot find love in other people until you find love within yourself.
Embrace all your wrong doings.
They are not mistakes; they are just doings that happened wrongly
At the right time and to the right person.
And most importantly; learn from those miss-takes.
Embrace your achievements and compliment yourself,
For no one will boost your confidence better than you.
Remember; always live your life to the fullest,
And don’t forget to smile more and laugh more.
You only have one life, Embrace life.

Who Am I

I am that girl you always teased at school saying I’m chubby.
I am that girl you said is a snob and arrogant, one you said you will never associate with.
I am that girl you called names just to make you feel better about yourself.
I am that chick you said you would never date.
Yes, that’s me, but that is not all of me.
You see, while you were focusing on the one moment you experienced with me,
That one minute you spoke to me, that one side you saw.
You missed the entire bigger picture so let me fill you in.
I am me, me as a whole is a lady you will never get to know.
I am a lady who is complex yet simple, hardcore and headstrong yet soft spoken.
I am such a puzzle that is too hard for you to even attempt.
I am a strong, beautiful, intelligent African woman.
I am nurturing and loving but like a rare ornament
You cannot find in any antic store but only within me.
Yes, that is who I am, all of me.
I am a phenomenal woman.
I am a friend, a sister, a colleague, a daughter, a mother, a wife,
None of which you fit into.
Yes, that’s me, all of me.

When Love Died

When love died “we” died
You told me that you and I changed
You told me love had changed
But you and I did not change,
You and I walked away and “we” got lost
When you and I went in opposite direction
It tears “us” apart and “us” was left broken
And broken cannot be fixed
Broken cannot be glued back together
When you walked away “us” ceased to exist
Because there was no longer “we”.
Even though there was never “I” in “we” or in “us”
The only thing that kept us together
The one thing that made “u” and “I” to be us, was no more.
I saw it in your eyes as you turned and walked away
You forgot how I swept you off your feet.
I saw a blank emotion in you
Even though your soul was graceful
I was intrigued because “we” was broken
The one thing that made “u” and “I” to be us, was no more
When love died “we” died.
And so ends the chapter.

A Second Glance

The little girl inside was screaming for help
But you just watched her, and just listened
With a hardened heart, with no remorse.
You did not even take a second glance
Even though you knew exactly what was going on.
She tried to voice her options and her choices
She tried to ask you for help and see things through her eyes,
But you shut her up and shut her out.
You shut her up and told her what you wanted to happen.
Yet you trigged her into believing you were there for her,
And she believed like the little girl she is,
That help was knocking on the door
Then you left her in the middle of the ocean
Drowning by the waves of the storm,
Storm that you stirred up.
You did not even take a second glance.
Until she became one with the sea
Until she became part of the storm
To never say the storm is over and the sun shines again
The little girl inside no longer screamed for help
She saw help within the pillars of the storm
She sort strength within the mess
As she realized little did she know she was no longer
No longer the little girl who was once stared
The storm had created within her a new dawn
A new era was evolving inside and she had to take over
She took a second and third and fourth glance at the storm
With calmness she stepped forward
And walked out through the door of the storm
With perseverance and calmness you can overcome any storm

In the Middle of It All

As I’m in the middle of it all, I cannot think.
I cannot attempt to escape even though I am suffocating.
Inseparable seems to become part of me.
None seem to look my way, even though they sense me.
Even though they see me waive.
Should I be waving goodbye?
Is it then that they will acknowledge me?
Is it then that they will try to fix a windshield with broken glasses?
I see them and they see me in the middle of it all.
My muscles ache with boredom, seeking to be freed
Seeking to be unbound from this binding of chains
Those chains that are so hard to break,
Chains that are now becoming inseparable,
Inseparable seems to become a part of me.
Even when I refuse, even when I say no.
My no is now silent, it has no words, it has no meaning.
In the middle of it all I still am here,
I still am trying to finds my ground
Ground I can walk on freely and not be afraid
Ground that will be friendly to me
And maybe even give me a wink
To say some day things will become ok
And I will be inseparable with myself and even inseparable itself.
I realized that in the middle of it all is ok.
For I am in the middle of it all.
