Starry Starry Night - POTW

POTW

When Wishes were made on a shooting star The Heavens looked down and smiled With sprinkles of stardust on a whisper of moonbeams They created for us a child Soothed you were by twinkling stars In a crib that faced a velvet sky Did Queen Cassiopeia sing you a sweet lullaby As she heard your cries from ever so high In the years that followed you blossomed Joy abounded at the Wondrous You A rare jewel that we could hardly believe was ours A beacon lighting a path so True We named you Vincent - Our shooting Star We felt with the artist you identified a gifted creativity - an affinity with stars Sharing a world of art personified The ‘Via Lactea’ expanded into names defined Elliptical galaxies pondered while star gazing Sirius the Dog Star the brightest of all Followed by Canopus and Arcturus - Amazing Vega - Alpha Lyrae - the Soaring Eagle You dragged us into your nightly game Willing participants we soared with Him Our mundane lives now never the same Tents were pitched on ink black nights Constellations on high seriously contemplated Of Draconis, Capricornus, Gemini and Aries The Heavenly hand that had so skilfully created You captured the Milky Way in oils and canvas In a fashion shared with artists of old Your palette made up of hues and shades With flaming strokes of colors so bold And then it all Changed Why did it all change? You drew within Shutting us out despite our pleas Your palette changed to blacks and greys A boat rocking on emotional seas We begged and pleaded - you shut the door Leaving us baffled at what was wrong Your light grew dimmer by the day Our sorrow sang its own woeful song And then on one starry starry night The final flame - extinguished by you Leaving utter devastation - bereft in its wake Your parents’ hearts broken in two Time heals all wounds so they say Your farewell note being read and reread Through tears of sadness, the hurt replaced With acceptance and forgiveness instead. And now as we sit years later on our porch Staring at one star that sparkles so Bright The words of Don McLean’s echoes in our minds Of Vincent and his Starry Starry Night ‘For they could not love you But still your love was true And when no hope was left in sight On that Starry Starry night You took your life Like sometimes lovers do But I could have told you Vincent This world was never meant For one as beautiful as you’
Footnote: Though fictitious, this is a story that truly represents teenage Cyber bullying suicides all over the world including Asia today. The innocent victims fear blackmail and repercussions refusing to talk it over with parents or mentors. The parents are not even aware sometimes of the dark void of despair their child is facing and trying to address by themselves of which they have no experience and sometimes think the only way out is to end it all. In this cyber age, these cowardly bullies hide behind anonymity, targeting their innocent victims, spreading and sharing lies and venom. Hat’s off to my friend Kate Pennington of ‘Beyond a Joke’ Anti-Bullying Centre, in Sydney Australia, an amazing lady dedicated to helping the youth. No real names of victims have been used in this piece of poetry and any resemblance is purely coincidental. POTW 23rd April 2017

The Time Traveler - a Visual Art Poem - POTD

POTD 6th Sept 2019

When the dawn kisses the dew on all thing that grow and that first melancholy thought, ponderous and low questions any relevant notions to how Time flows shattering dreams and purpose as onward it goes ~ Explain the unexplained ~ Scientific theories he questions difficult to comprehend that Time is without beginning ~ Time has no end To assume Time travel to the past is absurd Is to mock quantum physics so wonderfully weird Once ‘neath a starry sky a frozen memory in Time When vows were exchanged in a moment sublime In blatant disregard Time stole what was not IT’S to keep Tears soothe not a broken heart and regrets bed deep To take back what was his surely would not be a crime? If he could but turn back the Hands of time ~ Explain the unexplained ~ The limits to human perception to many are obscure Though thought becomes lucid in the absence of fear Belief belies science for this Traveler of might Impervious to erratic judgement and misguided sight Whispered words he hears in the drum’s haunting beat ‘Courage Traveler ~ forge your heart in the furnace of heat integrated with energy ~ enigma of time travel so fleet ‘Carpe Diem’ lest Time pass’ introeo no retreat’ Time waits for no man with The Portal it casts Dexterity and skill required so the Traveler moves fast The leap between Present and Beyond mere seconds to last On to a crystalline galaxy where Time is steadfast ~ Explain the unexplained ~ Encapsulated in Love ~ Time is ever last
Synopsis
I was asked if the young bride died. No - she did not die, but was merely caught up in time as it sped away with her, leaving behind her devastated husband. Refusing to give up his search for her, he set about trying to figure out the complexities of space and time. Conquering his fear threshold, he ‘jumps’ into the ‘timeless gap’ to be with her. According to the theory of relativity, the space and time continuum are not what they appear. Being relative, they do not always function in a similar fashion and are not experienced in the same way every time. Time does stand still when we are in pure admiration, in awe, in wonder and in adoration, where the purest form of love exists. It is in these moments we experience a different galaxy where indeed time does stand still. Like Eternity ~ One moment is like A thousand years and A thousand years is like one moment.

True Colors

Eyes are the windows of a soul and they say ‘Love is blind’
But how do you describe colour to a sightless person?

Such depths to your violet eyes
The windows of your Soul
A flickering source of emotions
Speaking volumes ~ though sightless

Not limited by vision Not obscured by darkness Your dazzling beauty of true colour Conceals your inner world Of complex greys Your smiles create rainbows That stay All through my day
In a world of colour For some eyes Sadness and mistrust linger Your eyes mirror only Beauty and Hope ~ Love and Joy
You ask for a detailed description of the colour of your eyes How can I? Futile will be my try No Master’s artistic brush can decipher That deeper shade of violet
Changing like the sun’s ceremonial display Retaining an aura of mystery Seeking only truth In your abstract blur of colour
Though ~ let me try Here place your hand on my heart How can one see colour If it can’t be felt
Look through my eyes Feel that majestic sky With its beautiful variations of blue Serenading the aqua sea below Through sparkles of iridescent silver bursts A tinge of pearly pink lazily drifts past
I hastily dip my brush just a touch Do you see? Swirling pink with the blue Another dip into the aqua of the sea Hints from the bushes of lilacs below A smidge of the red poppy Blended till it’s the right shade of a violet hue
Can you feel my colour? Behind your veil of black velvet? My humble artistic attempt Going beyond my range of limitations
Your eyes glow in approval In that spinning vortex of violet complexity ~ We dance in your world of darkness As you whisper to me ~ that your eyes have always seen the stars. We both look~~~~~incredulously ~~~~~at the same spot A starburst ******************of light A ~~~~~~~~~~~~~shooting~~~~~~~~~~~star My wish ~~~~~~~~~~for you~~~~~~~~~~my love To be ~~~~~~~~~~~~forever and~~~~~~~~always as Brilliant as~~~~~~~~~~*********~~~~~~~~~~~you are ** ** *** *** ***** **** ****** ****** ******** ********

A Girl Named Sue - POTW

POTW 1 Oct 2018

Gossip about her
swept the school yard through
“Hey if you’ve got what it takes
There’s this girl named Sue
For a pack of smokes
or a drink or two
She’ll kiss you ~ she’ll please you
like no other girl can do”

Her fuchsia glossed lips
Matched the colour of her hair
Her legs went on forever
She had a self-assured flair
He yearned for those baby blues
to stray his way
How did the cool guys snare girls
come what may?

Dreams on his pillow a teenage fantasy Were seconds away from becoming a manly reality She promised to meet him in the park one night Two packs of Marlboro’s Under the pale moonlight A brief kiss on the lips then as she swiftly turned to go He yanked her back hard and as she fell to the floor A fantasy was shattered Hopes tossed away ~ abused Feelings of rejection Cast aside and confused
He lived in an era Where double standards were applauded Girls were shamed For going all the way Boys rewarded However integrity doesn’t stoop to lows no need to impress Head high as he walked it was not worth the stress
The journey was his ~ along this untrodden road Tomorrow ~ todays rejection would be yesterday’s episode Every step away from her was a gentle elixir Then came her words on the wind ~ barely a whisper
‘Hey ~ I’m a virgin too ~ and a skank I’m not They sully my name and my character they blot The smokes are for my mum it eases her pain And for my sick Ma I’ll do this again and again’ Continued in 'Tears on her pillow'...

Tears On Her Pillow - Continued From a Girl Named Sue

Tears for a Mother Fears for a Father gone Fate deals an unfair hand The door to youthful joy closing on adolescent shoulders imposing grown up responsibilities instead
Eyes sadly deprived See not the panorama of pursuing cloud shapes that conceal a frivolous Sun playing hide and seek behind Nor do they see the mischievous stars scurrying in and out of the path of the Moon’s orbital course causing her impatience and wrath
No skipping joyously through fields of heather startling unsuspecting butterflies No fantasy fairy fables of where one seeks an elusive four leaf clover* No Christmas present peeks under a non-existent twinkling tree No answers to eternal questions of love are sought over plucking daisy petals I love you ~ I love you not
Pushed aside let them be For the young at heart for those who see her armour doesn’t slip She has distanced herself from emotional injury Why then under a blanket of darkness do streams of tears copiously flow re-dampening a pillow already soaked from the night before? Reflections of regret as she had watched him walk away The shame of being tagged Placed in a stereotypical box Typecast with irrevocable disparaging words of ‘slag’ ‘skank' ’ whore’ Accusations cast loosely no longer ‘water off a duck’s back’ brutally now strike a hurtful blow
Did she imagine the compassion in his eyes?
No emphatic eyes have yet seen what surely is a disadvantaged life? Providing some comfort to ease the pain for a sick mother who lies dying are fraught with risks and strife
She questions yet again Could the ‘wheels of fate’ be just altered? Truth for Truth the Golden Rule Trading kisses for cigarettes is unquestionably uncool
Could Negative energy be interrupting Life’s Grand Scheme? Where hides that elusive four leaf clover? Or does it manifest to only those who dream? And there he stands nervously at the school gates A bunch of wild daisies in his hand Oblivious to the snide smirks of the others curious to see who he awaits Apprehension and remorse in his eyes Magically erased and replaced with euphoric joy When he perceives her radiant smiles Smiles that bring the curious sun out pushing through darkened clouds Illuminating the end of the tunnel bright So she can see that rare delight As her Hope intervened to send Faith And his Love conceded to intercede Fate to make amends The fairies shower luck and blessings To the four leaf clover friends
*Four leaf clover ~ the first reference to luck might be from an 11-year-old girl, who wrote in an 1877 letter to St. Nicholas Magazine - “Did the fairies ever whisper in your ear, that a four-leaf clover brought good luck to the finder”.

Hallelujah - From the Mouth of Babes - With Silent One

The Guardian
		Melodic lullabies echo
As heart strings strum secret chords
		As transcendental images appear
		Stargazers are lost for words
		Kaleidoscopic Illuminations
Paint the sky in optimistic light
		Hope descends in serene silence
Floating through shadows of the night
Dancing spirits move to dulcet tunes
Shadows can be seen against the moon
Oh Redeemer do you hear their call?
Take with you those who have gone too soon
		Hallelujah- Hallelujah
		Hallelujah- Hallelujah
From the mouth of Babes
To hallowed ground we trip hand in hand
A new chapter to embrace in its splendour
Ring out voices on notes sweet and clear
To the universe our souls will surrender
Fragments of the past spun into flags of freedom
Our Victory March erased from strife
Away with the racing winds ever so bold
Singing Hallelujah to hail a new Life
The lighter the air the higher we climb
No more the fetid chitter chatter
To the fading strains of a repetitive tune
Not broken -We rise - We matter
		Hallelujah-Hallelujah
		Hallelujah-Hallelujah
The Guardian
		Cyber conducts no hateful words
Whisper soft winds only of love
Ring euphonious echoes of Rapturous joy
		While Heaven beckons from above
Finally free from those who judge,
Eyes glow as laughter begins to vibrate
Running together through fields of freedom
		Babes hum rhapsodies that liberate.
From the mouth of Babes
Jubilous our shouts as onward we go
Skipping, laughing as each other we chase
Heaven embraces as we run to her arms
Soothed we feel in her cocooned embrace
Dissipate grey clouds from this Promised Land
Our Hallelujahs peal out sweet and light
		Celestial Symphonies reach a crescendo
As the stars twinkle lustrous tonight
		Hallelujah-Hallelujah-Hallelujah-Hallelujah

Acknowledgement:
My deepest appreciation to Silent One for his contributions and collaborating with me to bring this message of Hope to parents and loved ones who have suffered the extreme sadness through loss of their innocent children and the dark despair that follows.

Tragic as their loss is, this poem is to offer solace and perhaps help them understand their child has not totally gone. In ‘Hallelujah - From the Mouth of Babes’, this is what I envision it to be beyond the void of criticism and bullying, where Ethereal beings welcome them back to another innocent realm where they readily resume childlike exuberance. Perhaps, they will return in another time away from their dark experience.’

For my friend Kate Pennington an amazing lady dedicated to helping the youth in ‘Beyond a Joke’ Anti-Bullying Center, Australia, for whom I wrote ‘Starry Starry Night’ some time ago.

My Heart Will Go On - POTD

POTD 30th August 2018

The gently swaying branches of the old oak should elicit calmness
And yet a sense of foreboding permeates the midnight air
Wild imaginings? Or did shadows flit across the leaf strewn path?
No time to dwell ~ She must make haste
Long afore the sun breaks on the morrow
A day surely portent of wrath?

Freedom is in her hands tonight
                                         Release from a tyrannical father
                        A personage demanding unquestioned obedience

Movements morph into shapes ~ her father’s vicious hounds
Bred to kill ~ Caesar and Brutus
~ A chill tingling ripple runs up her spine~
Baying ~ salivating ~ jumping high
~ Raring for release from muzzles and leashes
Tugged hard by camouflaged hands they jerk back disgruntled
Ferociously they sniff at the scent of blood drawing nigh

Dear God … He knows their plan to elope …
They wait in the shadows Julius ~ his servant ~ she has sensed him Creeping ~ Listening ~ Following Stealthily comes her lover careful not to snap the twigs in the brush Caution yet eagerness in his gazelle like stride None the less the man marked for death defies a terror inside And an overwhelming trepidation she cannot hide
She must alert him of the danger ahead
Love thinks not with logic but with the mind of impulse Caution him she must ~ her father’s hunting gun will suffice God lend her wings she prays as down the wooden stairs she flies A scheme to foil a scheme in haste ~ is never easy to devise
With hands fumbling and trembling convulsively She lifts the weighty gun off the rack Snapping back the catch taking aim she fires upward Up into the midnight sky
Ka Boom ~ They hear in the darkness The errant bullet whistling through the air Misinterprets its mission Striking metal it ricochets Ka Boom ~ Fate changes its pathway of plans well laid An exchange for saving his life finding another target It embeds in her soft white flesh Extinguishing her burning shining light instead
Only he seems to hear that heart rendering surprised note in her scream Unmistakeable in Death ~ a melancholy hopelessness through that unfulfilled cry Tapering down to the whispering echoing sigh lies the ghostly warning Turn back! Turn back or you will die! Heedless to the unshackling of the muzzles, Mindless to the release of the constraining leads Sightless to the vicious hounds that to him streak ~ and Fearless of the cowardice measured by their evil deeds
With his Heart and Soul aflame and bleeding he races Screaming to his fallen Rose ~ indifferent for his own life Directly into their line of fire
Oh vengeful Nemesis carry their last piteous cries away ~ tarry naught Naught for unrepentant men who gloat at a mission complete Ignorant yet of the tragedy that awaits in the house on the hill Leaving their hounds to stay by the lifeless prey ~
Reward for the blood of the kill
The Broken Man Weeps The sun sets an angry red The aura round the moon glows a crimson hue The Broken Man Sobs While On her Grave An unwatered Rose Flourishes and grows Atoned by his tears instead
Footnote: I have always wanted to write a tragic love story – I’ve chosen the Title of the Poem ‘My Heart will Go On’ to highlight that the heart of the Rose, albeit somewhat vengeful, still ‘goes on’ seeking atonement. The melancholy music ‘Titanic’ simply accentuates this tragedy and has no connection to this story - I trust you have enjoyed this piece. Video Clip: 2 CELLOS Luka Sulic and Hauser

Kindness - POTD

POTD 2 July 2018

Humans are capable of ‘Changing their State’. At times, a stressful, negative fusillade can be encountered from an individual wishing to subvert a person for whatever reason.

Lady Gaga so aptly describes this in her video clip above - and she should know through experience.

Kindness is a sentiment no one can ultimately reject.

Hard to do you say? - It’s easy.

Firstly, refuse your alter ego permission to react immediately.
(Your alter ego is programmed to protect your from a ‘painful’ situation)

The brain is a Bio-computer and can easily be reset to ‘Default’ by breathing into your abdomen (not into your lungs), - hold and then exhale, each action performed slowly to the count of 6.

Accusatory fingers pointing ~ eyes glowing hate Seeds of venom spewing forth slanderous lies Jealousy in all its inglorious green eyed splendor Wool clothed wolves with undetectable smiles Any tick of the clock it creeps up upon you Evil plays no favorite it’s any man’s game Seeming to push you up that stairway of victory Then perniciously denigrates ~ disavowing any blame Damned if you do ~ Damned if you don’t Kindness perceived as weakness gets cast out the door Tendencies to vacillate creates chinks in your armour Resolutely walk the tight rope ~ lest your knees hit the floor Eyes wide shut to the Evil all around us Detach from this Chaotic Web in which we dwell Be the Peace that ceaselessly penetrates the darkness YOUR prerogative is to choose either ~ Heaven or Hell

Passion In Black and White - POTD - Erotic Verse

POTD 7th Mar 2018

I trust you like the music video clip which enhances the poem

Like dark molten honey caressing her tongue and soul food for taste buds addicted to caffeine Coffee has its own excitation The book has lost its charm The fault lies entirely with the tree outside this cafe To its majestic being she gazes yet again Intoxicating her mind with the magic it casts Its sacred shades of green offers sanctuary - cocoons her A light breeze rustles leaves that seem to whisper enticing words articulating something in an archaic tongue Escapism into her fantasy world comes effortlessly A disposition for being alone - solitude her sacred space Interrupted suddenly by a dog barking - The momentary moment of peace shattered snaps her back to reality Well at least the tree still offers her solace Till the comforting feeling dissipates as a strange awareness dawns She is being watched Smouldering eyes so black boring through her cuts her to the core A feeling of having experienced this de`ja` vu moment mystifies Most disconcerting is this almost pleasurable sensation Embarrassed and puzzled she pulls her wrap protectively around her Shielding her from eyes that linger To cover her shyness she stares down at her book Then to the TV on the wall Startled she observes it has morphed into an old movie screen Static flashes across an old Hollywood Classic rerun Most bewildering - she does a double take - Unbelievable The actors in black and white Are her… And … this stranger Unable to tear her eyes away from the screen she watches in utter fascination - this person who sits across the table from her Is the leading man in the movie He… She...They Incredulously are in the throes of a passionate love scene? She staring shamelessly into his eyes Welcoming his wandering hands? He thrusts his tongue into her mouth eliciting a drawn out sigh that intensifies into a sonorous moan arousing his demands What is happening here? Like a finely tuned instrument he plays her - her resonance - his pleasure His sole aim to pluck her strings evoking the sweetest sounds A musician exerting the right pressure to produce a high note of pure exhilaration must know how to use his fingers To locate the true locus of ardour Questing fingers slip under her short skirt A sharp intake of breath as they run the length of skin in search of excellence to acclaim his prized opus through the essence of his masterpiece and the high ecstatic notes Only he can achieve And Boy! - Does he know how! Raw intense undulating pleasure like waves over waves Wash over her - a nostalgic fragrance of bygone days linger But logic interrupts fantasy with a mentation They have already experienced this exhilaration From a past life? Lovers that have lived in each other? A rare phenomenal - no words needed As he saunters over to her table - she smiles…
