The Rose

Once bloomed a rose so young and fair
With dark brown eyes and long black hair

Beside her be a tall dark tree
Whose branches stretch to smother thee

Too close beside the shadowy bark
That soon begins to leave its mark

She cries for help, but none shall hear
Her thorns too sharp, who’d dare go near?

To save this rose, who’d risk their life?
With naught to gain but pain and strife

Alone, afraid, she lays to rest
Her heart beats low inside her chest

And with the hour growing near
She sheds her final grieving tear

And so the rose soon falls asunder
Her final day, eternal slumber

She lies beside the old dark tree
The only one who mourns for thee

My Sister, My Friend

My sister my friend,
Forever to be,
My friend, my sister,
For eternity.

No loss or distance,
Can sever our hearts,
For two joining souls,
Can never part.

With undying love,
And unbending trust,
God saw to it,
That this was a must.

To be together,
Forever you see,
My sister my friend,
For eternity.

A So-Called Man

He rides his horse above the rest; a king in his own mind
He likes to think his wit is best, and thinks the maiden blind
But deep inside this so-called man a coward lurks within
For this poor man is just a fool, a Jester with a grin

He plays his games and thinks he’s won, but surely he has flopped
For this poor child is barely grown, and thus his crown has dropped
Below his feet it lays to rest, his crown starts to decay
For all his power was made up, his façade at play

He tried to trick the world outside that surly he was right
For his deception worked before on some with clouded sight
Although the maiden, strong and wise, has come to see right through
She saw the fool, high on his horse, and knew what she should do

And so with words like arrows did she pierce inside his chest
And now he lays below the ground a fitting place at best
With all the others commoners and fools without a cause
How fitting is his new found home, for the king he thought he was

The Masochist

She follows in her mother’s footsteps; it’s all she’s ever known
Mentally and physically, her mother seems to show
That Man has power over her, and thus she will not go
And so the little girl has learned all there is to know
That pain from men is something that is sure to make her grow
And so she bows before him like a king upon a throne

All the makeup in the world won’t hide the hurt within
She carries on, cooking, cleaning, and slaving just for him
But all her righteous doings are looked upon as nil
He’ll have her do so much more until he's had his fill
Her fear begins to plague her mind when setting off to bed
That should she leave without any means, she might as well be dead

For loneliness is something that will always make her stay
It does not matter what she does or who she will betray
This is the life she has chosen for herself today
And no one can tell her otherwise, her mistakes must be made
But down the road a path will clear and then she’ll she the light
And that will make her wings grow big and carry her in flight

The Girl Across the Seas

Who is this girl I barely know, but somehow seem to care?
She talks to me of everything and thus I see her fair.

For this strange girl I feel I’ve known though we’re so far away,
Another life, perhaps a dream, the thought does seem to weigh.

Who is this girl that makes me feel a sister she should be?
How many times inside my mind I see us drinking tea,

And laughing at the little things that only sisters do,
While watching all the lovely boys that pass our window's view.

Who is this girl who dares to share the secrets of her life?
These letters we send back and forth are read with such delight .

We have so much in common that I never fear its end,
For there is always so much more to share with this dear friend.

Who is this girl I barely know, but talk to with such ease?
A friend I met beyond the “Rift,” the girl across the seas.
