Naddy Zahari Poem
Help me let you let me in
because I can’t deal with the acid rain
that is pouring through your brain.
It is causing too much chaos and strain.
How long shall this matter remain?
Seriously, we need no Jane
in the middle lane
to act like a membrane,
to channel our overpowering emotions
down the drain,
Can you please explain
why are you radiating cold disdain,
Don’t tell me our love is in vain!
Or do you find pleasure in pain?
Forget the train,
let’s fly off to Spain
before I go insane!

Naddy Zahari Poem
One can escape
the seriousness of the weekend
by hiding behind one of the booths
at the land checkpoints.

Naddy Zahari Poem
I got lost in a swarm of people
who knew other people
who thought politics were overrated,
who were constantly for equal rights
for every damn thing,
and then there was me
who was trying to look for you,
despite the cacophony of
human sounds.

What is it with you
Constantly want me to do
Things you never do

Naddy Zahari Poem
If this love was
sifted from the ashes of ruination;
conjured from marshes filled with polluted tears of the mournful;
dripping from the hearts of those who roam the streets of despair...
If it were unconventional,
and unworthy of a crown
because of its vile and putrid sentiment:
what would you call it then?

Naddy Zahari Poem
Forgive me
for not letting you in.
I wanted so badly to escape
this place halfway between
memories of the past and
uncertainty of the future.
If only I knew then
that it would end up this way,
I wouldn’t step foot into the idea of love.
Not even close, not even when the fire within me rose.
How could I let myself be so vulnerable,
so plagued by a callous human being
bringing nothing of gain,
knowing only suffering and pain?
How did breaking apart become so easy?
Wasn’t my heart hard as steel?

Naddy Zahari Poem
Come, let’s enjoy a few cups of Silver Moon tea
while watching “You, Me & Dupree”
under the limbs of that old ash tree
where we carved our initials “D & C”

Naddy Zahari Poem
I met you in a city
called Strange Land,
for some Hopeland.
They say dreams were
made here,
under the streaks of
Radio City,
on an Island where
you’d find yourself
a lifetime supply of
Coney dogs,
where Alice continues
to search for her Wonderland
this is where I met you
in your homeland,
where you deftly stole
my view of everything
but you.

Naddy Zahari Poem
why’s it so easy for
a group of ants to
hang out together
without playing favorites,
without making one
feel out of place?
let’s say
one ant from a
different colony
drops by.
there’d be no
awkwardness,
no ants of ebony
judging its
red exterior.
blend in,
you’re one of us now,
one of them
will say.
If only humans
behaved the same way.

Naddy Zahari Poem
If I could carve out
the words in the sky
to tell you how much
I love you
they still wouldn’t be enough
