Jesus

JESUS by Joan May Donnelly Ellis

Jesus, You are the Brightest Light of Love
A hearth fire ablaze on Christmas Eve
 A child's uncommanded hug
The flicker from a candle's flame
A Hand whose touch leaves a glow
The whisper of a lip's caress
The shower of an autumn snow

Jesus You are the manifestation of my praise
A military stride illuminated by grace
The reception of delight when pure humor releases all care
You are the warmth of an appreciative look
As You muse from your rocking chair
Jesus, You are a revelation spilling forth and pouring Light into my soul as I meditate on You
You are fresh, You are clean, a poet's dream come true
Jesus, You are as welcome as a mountain stream I surrender myself to after a hot Summer day of toil in my garden
Jesus, You are regular visits to Adventure Land
A glove, snow white shifting silken sands
You are a boy running 20 miles to be with the girl he loves.
Jesus, You are a head sinking in a bale of new-mown hay
The healing power of a Palm Tree's sway
And Jesus, You motivate every good that I do.
Jesus, You are the juice from a blade of Kentucky Blue
The tremor following a California Quake too
And Jesus, You've got what it takes to cause the Universe to fall in love with You.
Jesus, You're the dawning of a Carolina moon
The Decider who dines with silver spoon
You're the Yellow Rose of Texas in full bloom
 The revival of Pentecost.
Jesus, You are a Prince in housecoat and slippers on a front porch swing
A LOVE for better or worse that clings
You're the Composer of songs Your Angel's sing.
 Jesus, You are brevity
An embrace that lingers long after You go.
Jesus, You are the One who never laughed
When the child's love letter was mocked by the elite class.
And Jesus, You make bearable the insults one suffers through
Forgiveness granted for the incomplete, inaccurate view
You're the only One worthy & the only One true
Potter me in word & deed more like You.

Armageddon

Armageddon

Can you feel the raging storm approaching?
Hear the ferocious winds scream, "It's true"?
Can you see the coal black clouds descending,
Concealing the bleeding Blood Moon from view?
Do you smell the deadly stench of the eerie fog
 Hovering, smothering,
The petrified - blanketed in sobbing dew?
Watch the writhing of the snake as he faces battle,
With The Savior of every believer, Gentile and Jew.
Do you weep as the blinding lightning strikes,
And Babylon crumbles in ashes to the ground?
Do you tremble as Heaven opens and Jesus steps forth.
Bearing scars and that thorn studded crown?
Now comes vengeance in the slamming of the rains,
As they create craters for Lucifer and his crew.
No longer on earth to reign again.
The wolves in sheep's clothes unmasked for all to view.
From the eye of the Lamb tongues of flames land,
Consuming the perverted, saving God's faithful and true.
As fiery Hell breaks out, brutal evil is damned,
 Satan has met his Waterloo.
The pure in heart redeemed forevermore.
Trumpets sound, angels sing praises to the King,
Death to Babylon, the great whore.
Who desired to wear the bridegrooms ring.
Lucifer, the serpent. in Hell is forever bound.
For he proved rotten to the core.
With a mind of a lunatic,a lascivious Hell Hound.
Jealous of the robe of righteousness Jesus wore.
Earth was warned but chose not to obey.
At Jesus' feet they wait and weep,
 This is their Judgement Day.
 Unbelievers called it conspiracy,
Assuming the truth was just folklore.
Lusting after wealth, and power, they reaped
 Damnation and shame,
They mocked the Lamb, refused His Salvation Plan,
And have only themselves to blame.
Engaging in filth unspeakable they scorned the Holy One,
 Frolicking in their abomination,
Now hear Jesus shout, "It Is Done".
And it was foretold long ago if one would turn from iniquity.
They would be saved, avoid the scorching grave.
Still they pursued what to God was Blasphemy.
The truth Evangelists told brave and bold,
It was foolishness to their ear,
Now they suffer forever awake in the dark lake,
Of the fire, condemned for all the wickedness they held dear.
Jesus, has always been the Alpha and Omega
 The beginning and the end,
The Faithful and True, the King of Kings , The Lord of Lords,
And all were warned time and time again.

I Walk Alone

I Walk Alone

( by Joan Donnelly Ellis October 23 2015)
 I walk alone
 I am the vapor
I am the chill creeping up your spine
I am the cold wind that chills you
 I am your disturbed mind
I am the frigid winter morning
 I am the goose bumps
I am what you cannot explain
 I am insanity unleashed
I am the bitter falling rain
I am the nightmare ' neath your pillow
I am the boogey man in whom you don't believe
I am the Creator of Halloween
Terror you have not yet seen
I am your wildest, crazy dream
 I am gloom
I am moon without a star in sight
 I am sun without shade
 I am unconscious soul
 Of no one afraid
I am slippery, cunning and hatred bore me true
And if you know not Jesus Christ I will destroy you

Yesterday

Yesterday
music & lyrics by Joan May Donnelly Ellis

VERSE 1:
Yesterday came knocking at my door today
Came so unexpected I was caught off guard ...didn't know what to say to Yesterday,
As I hesitated at the door he strolled on in
Confidence oozing from him as his lips widened in flirtatious grin

CHORUS:
I had no love left for Yesterday
So why'd I let him seduce me with his charm
 Where was the inner strength
Why can't you pull away I heard a voice say
As I felt his heated fingers tiptoeing up my yielded arm
While my soul screamed don't lets this happen
My heart refused to heed her warning alarm

VERSE 2:
Yesterday insisted things would be different
He said he'd changed...then winked as he gave my braid a familiar tug
My body quivered as he nibbled on the back of my neck
And eased me to the soft thickness of the living room rug

REPEAT CHORUS

VERSE 3:
Yesterday smelled of a green forest after a down pour of rejuvenating rain
 fresh and wild. and intoxicating......
I felt my knees weaken knowing I wanted him as much as he wanted me
It was morning when our satiated bodies untangled
We showered together as I attempted to silence my heart's pain
We dressed and he said he had to be going...with a hasty kiss Yesterday left as my heart bled tears of joy and fear...Joy that he was leaving and fear that I might never see him again.

Your Love

YOUR LOVE
(Music & lyrics by Joan Donnelly Ellis ( for Male Vocalist )

Your love has always filled my deepest longings
 Your love performs actively
What I found hard to do you managed somehow to see me through
And awakened dreams that were once only fantasy
You're a work of art my living Mona Lisa
You're the mountain top a trumpet's claim of victory
You're the solid ground beneath my feet
The wind that launches a fleet of ships that sail with the best in life for you and me

Chorus:
You've given me loyalty, treated me like royalty
Even during the times when the opposite was due , ou-ou-whoo
Then you amaze me by asking wild and crazy questions like .
Why am I so in love with you

Verse 2:
No your love hasn't always provided what I wanted
But when it come to needs as if by magic you'd supply
Then you tell all of our friends to you I'm like Heaven's angel on lend
When I fall you rush to my defence with logical alibi
 Repeat Chorus :

Just a Farmer 1

JUST A FARMER
(music and lyrics by Joan Donnelly Ellis/Genre County/Male Vocals)

Verse 1

I watched you work the ground with horse and plough
With just the hunger of a dream to show you how
and I watched you hide the pride when God favored your side
And you came home to Mama and me satisfied

Chorus
Just a farmer and your armour was tractor horse and plough
 and sweat upon your brow
A rising before dawn began to break
With shovel , spade and seeds to sow
 God's love and a rake

Verse 2
Your eyes spoke of a heart filled with light
You rarely judged but when you did you were right
And I will always view you as my Knight in shining armor
A special farmer, Dad , you were my life RC

Spoken
I know you tried to mold me a rancher from my youth
But my hankerin' was for music and that's the truth
And when my love for music altered the course of your guide
I know something within you died Dad and Mama says you cried
Now I'm not sure why or what happened that changed things
But turns out music wasn't enough to fill the hunger in my soul
So I called Mama to tell her I was ready to follow in your footsteps as a farmer
And Mama told you. Mama said your room seemed to illuminate from your glow.

Repeat Chorus twice and fade out slowly at the end

Just a Farmer 2

CONTINUES FROM : Just A Farmer 1

NOTE: Type of Music Video I had in mind is one that starts out with the son driving home but arrives too late and his Dad has died. After the funeral the son drives to the cemetery, gets out of the car and walks toward his Dad's headstone. The son removes his cowboy hat and begins to talk to his Dad's spirit....
I'm remembering our favourite fishing hole...Do you remember when you near lost your lure studded hat . When you and old Misery begin the routine combat. You fell in the river and old Misery got away...again ! I laughed myself to tears as you thundered home soaking wet . (silent pause as son reflects) miss you pops (deep breath exhales and sighs) Mama sent your trophy hat with you . perhaps old Misery followed knowing you ..would be fishing in a crystal river way beyond the blue...(The son turns away from the headstone and is astonished at the ghost-like figure of his Dad. The Dad is wearing the lure decorated fishing hat and dressed in fishing gear, a fishing rod is leaning against a tree. the Dad smiles & waves as the son stands speechless. The Dad reaches for his fishing rod, rests it on his shoulder. The son comes out of his trance and waves back just in time. The Dad turns and begins to whistle as his ghostly figure slowly evaporates. The son now filled with peace and joy replaces his cowboy hat on his head and walks to his car. He opens the drivers door to find lying on the passenger seat is his Dad's lure studded fishing hat)
(ALTERNATIVE Part in MUSIC VIDEO) the son could ride his horse to the cemetery and upon returning to the horse find his Dad's lure decorated hat slung over the saddle horn)

My Grandson Tanton

You made a grand appearance 19 years ago,
A grandson of whom I immediately cherished so.
Your Daddy was so proud placing you on a table top to view,
I didn't realise then but now believe Ireland had sent you.
Your Mom was from England & your Dad from Ontario,
You'd charming ways reminding me of Irish relatives I know.
It was as though you'd inherited their amusing personality,
And you were at birth a blessed treasure to me.
Throughout the years your love was constant and sincere.
I christened you, "Squirt" long before you'd aged a year.
Mysterious your similarities with my side of the family,
An Irish Heart beats within you, I'm sure and a bit of royalty.
From a wee toddler you were kind, sharing everything,
Your candy, your toys, your love, and favourite ice-cream.
One day, after I've gone away , God will help unfold your dream,
Hope you'll wind up In Ireland with her 40 shades of green.
You are one in 10 thousand, a loyal grandson, and friend, true blue,
Whatever path you take in life ,I will always love you-Nanny

Adventures With James My Grandson

Adventures With James My Grandson

by Joan Donnelly 1995

He doesn't walk but runs to his subject on interest,
and upon arrival, leaps into the air.
With bended knees and flattened feet he lands like an athlete,
and his welcoming, "Hi," cuddles my heart as I wipe away a tear
Then he wraps a wee hand around my finger leading me into his realm of
Adventure and joy.... with enthusiastic anticipation,
though he hasn't turned two yet, my youngest son's eldest boy.
He guides me to a rest area and seats me by patting his hand on an outdoor substitute for a chair.
At his, "Sit, Sit,"I oblige him as he runs through rain puddles...then..
gifts me with a bouquet of dandelions and a honey-filled , "Here."
Once I presented him with a learning toy, his repsonse delighted my soul,
"Awh, Awh,"he uttered appreciatively while tilting his head ia sideways to and fro.
One day he noticed a kitten curled up 'neath a sheltering tree
Swiftly he raced toward her with an over-the-shoulder, "Come," to me.
I couldn't help but chuckle when he repeated, "Come," once more.
He never caught the enlightened feline but brightened my day for sure.
Then he ran down the street where he sighted a wooden plank on the ground.
"Bat, Bat,"rang his happy chant at the treasure he'd found.
With effort he maneuvered the narrow plank over his shoulder gleefully
"Ball, Ball,"he urged and I followed his searching eyes co-operatively.
To my amazement, as if waiting to be found ,lay a beach ball on a grassy mound...
Though I've not known baseball to be played with such.
It was of balloon size and as I looked into James' sparkling eyes..
I wondered if he'd become the baseball player his Dad hoped for so much.
I could see James straining to keep the awkward bat raised so with a..
"Ready, Set,"I pitched ball and prayer as James let out a sigh.
The bat he forward inched as he licked his upper lip and by gosh got a hit,
Then said, "Cool,"as we watched the ball fly.
"Get it, Nanny,"James gave me the order and I retrieved the ball intending to extend our fun........when.....Was it my imagination or did I hear....a crowd in a filled stadium cheer at the announcer's , "Well I'll Be, Folks! Young MacMaster makes another home run !"

Tisn'T Fittin'

Tisn't Fittin'
(Children's song music & lyrics by Joan Donnelly Ellis 1992)

Tisn't fittin for a kitten to wear a mitten
Tisn't fitten for a spider to terrify
Tisn't fittin for a doggy to wear cowboy boots
But it's OK for a Daddy to cry

Tisn't fittin for a turtle to use chop sticks
No sir, not even if he is Chinese, still tisn't fittin
Tisn't fittin for a worm to hook a walleye
Tisn't fittin for a bull frog to moo like a cow
But it's OK for a Daddy to cry

Tisn't fittin for grasshopper to play leap frog
Tisn't fittin for a pirate to shanghai
Tisn't fittin for a bunny to play hopscotch
No sir, not even if she's a champion hopper, still tisn't fittin
But it's OK for a Daddy to cry

Tisn't fittin for giraffe to tetter-totter
Tisn't fittin to lasso a butterfly
Tisn't fittin for a Stallion to play horseshoes
But it's OK for a Daddy to cry
Yes, it's OK for a Daddy to cry
Yes, it's OK for a Daddy to cry
