He's the Devil

there’s a boy
with fire in his eyes
and trouble in his veins.

his words are mischief
his smile is the devil
and he has you trapped.

every waking moment
you can’t stop thinking
about the touch,

his skin against yours
his hands in your hair,
what would happen

if you could just
hold him close
and kiss him.

I Love You

I was drunk,
In six inch heels and a dress,
With pockets for my keys,
And cigarettes.

My eyes were fixed,
Watching you across the room,
There was one thing on my mind,
But I was not brave enough to say it.

It only took a small step of courage,
A few more sips from the bottle,
Before I set it on the table,
And took a step towards you.

The music was loud
And the lights blinded me
I lost you for a moment
In the chaos

Suddenly, you were right next to me
I lost my courage as fast as I had gained it
I never told you what I wanted to
I just asked,
Do you have a lighter?

Swirling Black

If you thought
You could find him
In the swirling black
At the end of the night
After he held your hand
And told you to run
You were wrong.
If you thought
You could find him
At the end
Of a lit cigarette
Waiting for your name
To blow up his phone
You were wrong.

He was at the end
Of the swirling black
In the bottom of the green
Glass bottle
It tasted like liquorice
And bitter romance
In the mottled light
Of an early morning sunrise.
He was at the end
Of a lit cigarette
Watching through
Smoke rising in the
Darkness
Gone as quickly
As you could inhale.

The First Time

the first time
I kissed a boy
I was seventeen
in his living room
by the fire.
I still remember
when our lips met
it felt like Summer
had come early.

the first time
I kissed a girl
I was eighteen
in her bed
drunk.
I still remember
when our lips met
it felt like Summer
would last forever.

Time

Condensed breath at midnight
as we sit beneath the stars
we are invincible
no one can break us.

Muffled voices at six am
mock arguments over eggs
poached or scrambled
does it really matter?

Broken coffee mugs at three
I didn’t mean to drop it
when you raised your voice,
you scared me.

Screaming at nine pm
the neighbours heard it
they look the other way
we are fine.

Shattered glass at midnight
shooting stars in the night
you always were my superman
I never thought it would be me
that met your fists.

The Smoker

the smoke from your lips a milky way the words you speak stars an endless source of fascination I am in love I think the way you craft ideas stories beginning with a seed blooming into fantasies and dreams floating away into the night
