House

The light shines down on darkened rafters
The happy ending was for never after
That house of safety moaning in silent sadness
Residents that once danced
Now shuffle in a trance
It was never foretold or foreseen
What came to be
A surprise to the last of them
Chased by those they created
Punished by those that created them
To some it seems like a golden paradise
But to those that live there
It’s like the closing maw of a diseased beast
I suppose that's the curse of sanctuary
They only last in fairy tales
