Why Africa

Why Africa

Africa! Africa! Africa!
Once considered, the bosom of unity
Often regarded as the mother of humanity
A center for the respect of human dignity
A people embedded with the spirit of integrity
Usually seen as the world’s mirror of charity
Characterized by the true meaning of hospitality
We were once referred to as pillars of morality

What a plague on Africa?
Africans are now killing Africans
Brothers are slaying brothers
Patriots are betraying compatriots
Mothers and children now refuge under bridges
The old and the weak abandoned to their fades

Where have we kept our forefathers’ legacies?
They taught us love and oneness
Trained us to stand for uprightness
Showed us how to be compassionate
Nelson Mandela fought for love, peace, unity and justice
He had a dream for African unity and not Afrophobia
Kwame Nkrumah advocated for African freedom
He did not promote African terrorism

Africans, Africans... where are you?
Stand up and drop your arms
Drop all weapons of destruction against Africa
Embrace your fellow Africans with love
Unite and put an end to racism and discrimination
Rise above your selfishness and stop xenophobia
Africans, we are one and indivisible Africa
Together, we can put an end to all xenophobic attacks!

Her Beauty

Was so carried away by her beauty
Yes, physically, but the heart was ugly
Now, I feel so empty.

Though it was quite a shame,
I had to take the blame
For it was all about the fame.

Sweet Love

Your words keep my spirit alive
And my soul yearns for more of your tender and sweet love
Every time I think of you, I see an Angel that brightens my life.
And a thought of you in my mind is the beginning of a brighter day
You are indeed a true friend whose worth is priceless
I intend to keep thee forever in my heart so jealously

Unbelievable

How sad it is, unbelievable but true
Yes, heroes too do die
Its true death is a reality
Since birth marks the beginning of a man
So death comes to end the existence of man

Unbelievable but true
Death is a reality though hard to accept
We say why him? We are correct to ask many questions
The simple answer is yes, heroes too do die
Yes, I know you will say not in this manner
But I tell you; heroes always go beyond our expectations
Like every other hero he was extra-ordinary in all aspects
Thus, the news of a fallen hero
How thunderous it sounds
Oh! What a great lost to our nation and future generations
We now live in total regrets and desolation
For one we once loved so much is no more
To this end, we say to God be the Glory.
Daddy, may your peaceful and gentle soul Rest in Perfect Peace.

Bamumbu

It’s all about my home
Home, sweet home,
Home of my ancestors
Land of the hills and valleys of happiness
It’s all about Bamumbu, the land of the famous gorillas
It’s all about my roots, the origin of my quest for knowledge and wisdom
It’s all about Bamumbu, the mountain surrounded and beautiful loam
It’s all about my fatherland, land of the yet to become great
It’s all about Bamumbu; the African unique habitat of the marmoset
Its all about my native land, specially favored by the Lord
It’s all about Bamumbu; land of abundant food.
It’s all about my homeland, land of peace lovers
It’s all about the land of the most brave century hunters
It’s all about Bamumbu; land of the most protective and solid rocks
It’s all about my home; abode for the defenseless
It’s all about Bamumbu; though forgotten, the mother of tomorrow leaders

Across the Mediterranean

I watched them took-off for their search for greener pastures
Adventurers with unclosed or unknown destinations
One thing was sure; they were going to cross the Mediterranean
Their determination overweighed the risk ahead of them
They were so desperate for a better life than their present conditions
Even like armless soldiers at war, they were ready to embark on their journey
These were all disgruntled youths from Africa
Their fingers of anger were all pointed at their leaders and governments

I watched them packed their loads, ready to face the unknown
Their faces proved disappointments from their fatherlands
In their minds, there was no better place than across the Mediterranean
These were jobless graduates from Africa
It was better to die in a strange land than live in a corrupt fatherland
These youths were running away from embezzlement and violation of human rights
But little did they know that all their dreams would be shattered in the Mediterranean Sea

I saw a group of frustrated mothers when the sad news stormed our land
Their dreams for a rich and better life had drowned in the Mediterranean
They cried with accusing fingers pointed at the government
Yet the government showed no compassion for her fallen compatriots
Neither did they express any pity for tears of these poor mothers
How I wished this injustice was rendered to them as well
But there was so little I could do by then

Goodbye My Love

The gap between us is so wide
You’re so distant away from me
Now I understand we’re worlds apart
But I know I perfectly played my part
I was wishing time will give us a chance.
But little did I know you were off for another dance.
Yes, now I know I was living in illusion
Of which I thought was a perfect adhesion.

You should have looked back before you leaved my life
You should have thought twice before you roll the dice
My life is almost empty without you
Yet, I have to keep on without you
Tears fall off my eyes and wet my face each time I think of you.
And my lonely heart cries out all day for you.
I can’t understand, but I know there is something wrong
You were the sweetest part of my life for so long
But now we walk no more in the calmness of the night
And play no more together under the moon light
Nor wake up again very early in the morning to watch the rising sun
