Take Your Place Among the Lowly

Take your place among the lowly,
Walk the path that Jesus walked,
There has never been one like Him,
With authority He taught.

With compassion, cast out demons,
Heaven's truths revealed to all,
Many wonders worked He daily,
Won the hearts of great and small.

But, when He stood facing Pilate,
Few there were who followed then,
Still, with Him, there was forgiveness,
For the souls of faithful men.

Because what they didn't know then,
As the lowly path He trod,
Was that He Who hung on Calvary,
Truly was the Son of God.

He Spoke

He Spoke

Carried about by the storm of emotion,
Over a wild and boundless ocean,
My heart was like a ship at sea,
And no one cared to rescue me.

Or, so it seemed, until I met,
A Man that I shall ne'er forget,
He spoke, the Master spoke to me,
And life the same shall never be,

He said, "I know your needs, that's why,
I went to Calvary to die,
The ocean, once so threatening,
Bowed down to meet my Lord and King.

I Sought Him

I sought Him by the roadside,
Where the flowers grew so fair,
And breezes blew, and birds sang,
But He wasn't there.

I sought Him in the marketplace,
In the busy thoroughfare,
Among the hustling, bustling crowds,
But He wasn't there.

I sought Him deep within my heart,
Through solitude and prayer,
I sought Him, yes, with all my heart,
And now He's everywhere.

Yes He is always with me,
No matter where I roam,
Because, you see, I gave my heart,
To be His very home.

October, Wear Your Colors Fair

October, wear your colors fair,
And come and play with me,
I think I'll be the wind today,
And dance with every tree.

The Autumn sky may dismal be,
But You bring warmth and cheer to me.

We Color Together

We color together,
my mother and me
for no one else but
each other to see.

I work at the top,
and she works at the bottom,
I pick out the colors,
from Summer through Autumn,
and even through Winter,
for just us to see,
We color together,
my mother and me.

The Chase

Bright and early in the morning,
Certain seasons of the year,
The hunter feels temptation,
To chase the timid deer.

With his rifle and his knife,
He searches constantly,
Every hoping, ever dreaming,
Just one deer to see.

Though he may come home at night,
At a not-so-hurried pace,
He is ready in the morning,
To begin anew the chase.

Jesus, Shepherd of My Soul

Jesus, Shepherd of my soul,
Make me pure and make me whole,
Let me not once go astray,
From the path of Life today.

He Wore a Crown of Thorns For Me

Whenever I feel discouraged,
Or am just too blind to see,
What purpose there is for my life on earth,
This thought is what comforts me.

I think about a Man Whose Name
Means, oh, so much to me,
You see, He wore a crown of thorns,
That He might set me free.

He wore a crown of thorns for me,
And bore so patiently,
All that the soldiers of Rome did think,
Would destroy His dignity.

He wore a crown of thorns for me,
And put up with all the shame,
The soldiers could deal out to Him,
For our sins He took the blame.

He wore a crown of thorns for me,
And I could never pay,
Him back for all that He endured,
And suffered there that day.

So I must love my fellow man,
The way He wants me to,
And that is how I'll know the peace,
He gives to those who do.

I Want Something Beautiful To Live For

I want something beautiful to live for,
Something far beyond what eye can see,
Something far beyond what ear can hear,
Said my aching, lonely heart to me.

Then I heard a Voice from deep within me,
Say to me so very lovingly,
"I can satisfy your deepest longings,
All that you need do is come to Me."

"I am Alpha and I am Omega,
I am the Beginning and the End,
Come to Me and cast your cares upon me,
I will be your everlasting Friend."

I replied, "Oh, Lord, I will come to Thee,
I long for the Life You want to give,
You, Who satisfy our deepest longings,
Who, alone, can teach us how to live."

But Bob's Not Here

The blossoms are so beautiful this year,**
but Bob's not here.
The birds are singing sweetly in the trees,
and all around me is a gentle breeze,
but Bob's not here.

My hero battled bravely to the end,
fighting for three long years a cancer rare,
inspired his family and all his friends,
and even strangers happening to be there.

His heart grew larger as he suffered on,
The Lord was truly with him all the way,
and with the ups and downs that surely come,
God's blessings were so evident each day.

Every time I heard a certain song,
his wedding dance song, "The Wind Beneath My Wings",
it touched my broken heart so tenderly,
reminding me that God is in all things.

So many beautiful stories I could tell,
of all the daily blessings that were there,
And, even now, my soul is comforted,
remembering God's goodness, I can share,

"God heals the brokenhearted" is so true,
Each day live thinking you have just this day,
to live upon this earth, so live it well,
The past is gone, tomorrow may not come,
And God is with us in the here and now.
