Some Men Who Really Can't Call Themselves Men

Do what I must,
To keep him happy,
To please him,
Feed his hunger,

Don’t mess up,
Don’t flinch,
Let him touch me,
Smile now,

Hold back your tears,
It’s just once,
Right?
Maybe just once

A Man Who Doesn't Like Reading

Typing away poems
For a man who ironically
Doesn’t even like reading

Typing away poems
When I should be talking
To him instead

Typing away poems
Confusing minds
More than one

Typing away poems
Because I feel sorry
For walking away

If You're Here With Me

If You’re Here With Me

If you’re here with me,
We will walk down the road,
Hand in hand,
Trading glances in code,

If you’re here with me,
We can go to the movies,
Sitting in the last row,
Do whatever you please,

If you’re here with me,
We could kiss,
Even small peck,
I’ll never forget this,

But come lets face it,
You are not here,
And neither am I,
Here will never exist my dear

The Things I Wouldn't Give

The things I Wouldn’t Give

The things I wouldn’t give for you to be here with me,
This beautiful autumn,
To fill the silence with your sweet, sweet voice,
Speaking over nothing that really matters,
All that does is that you’re with me,

The things I wouldn’t give to be in your arms,
This frozen winter,
No one here to warm my hands but you,
To share a mug of hot cocoa,
Chocolate stains your upper lip,
Flirtatious giggles all around,
Both of us under one blanket,

The things I wouldn’t give to hold your hands,
The following spring,
Even as the animals look for a mate,
You can watch the tulips grow with me,
With it, grows my love for you,

The things I wouldn’t give to gaze into your eyes,
When the summer finally comes,
The days so long, lazy, and lucid,
We can play ball, and go to the beach,
Build sand castles,
Our hands covered in sand,
Yet interlaced together,
And all that matters,
Is that I’m holding your hands,
And looking into your eyes,
The things I wouldn’t give

The Flaws

The flaws,

The way that my shoulders are broader than they need to be,
So that the small, tight tops never fit right,
So that I look muscular,
“Like a man,” my mother says,

The way my nose is a little too big for my face,
And my thighs are bigger than they need to be,
Where my skin is darker in some places than others,
How the acne scars cover my back,

The way the discolored birthmark marked its place,
In the dead centre of my back,
Or how I have a small black mole on the bottom of my right foot,
And one on my right, ring finger to match it,
A mole so small,
That you could mistake it for the numerous pen smudges on my hands,

How my nails are uneven,
And have little white marks on them,
How the nails on my right hand are tinted yellow,

How my chin wrinkles when I smile,
And when I smile,
I display my misshapen teeth,
For the world to see,

These I call flaws,
The imperfections,
What makes me different from the rest of them,
No worries because,
No one can even see past that,
That’s what makes me different,

The flaws

No One By My Side

No One By My Side

Today I woke early,
To see the sun rise,
And so I threw on a scarf,
And came outside,

Now I walk alone,
No one by my side,
The air is chilly,
And my hands are cold,

Yet I still walk alone,
No one by my side

Writing Poems About Stolen Liquor

A small vial,
I’ve nicked it,
A bottle of tequila,
Aren’t I a delinquent,

My heart is racing
Against my mind,
What a craze
To be foolish and hungry,

Must be clever,
even more cunning,
I’ll Regret this forever?
Never know ‘till I try…

Can’t forget the promise
I’m leashed to,
Said I wouldn’t again...
Now where to?

Maybe i’ll just tell him,
He’s doing the same kinda,
Even last night,
He told me if I felt up to it…

You don't care

You Don’t Care

You care,
About my grades,
And my health,
About my friends,
And my future,
But this isn’t care,
All you do is worry,
You worry about my grades, and my future,
Because you worry about your own reputation,
What others will think of you,
For raising such a daughter,
Such a rebel,
You don’t care,
About how my day is,
How I am feeling,
You don’t care if I am having a bad day,
You just don’t care,

I Can See Beautiful Things Again

I’m Staring blankly out a window
Ask even now, and i can tell you every detail
About the dark atmosphere around,
Fuzzy socks on and drawstrings pulled tight
Counting down the minutes till it strikes ten

In a sketchy motel lobby
Phone to my ear
And my breath slow, cold
I recount to you
How the day has passed

And tell you something
Something so odd
That you can’t quite place
I say
“I can see beautiful things again”

And it's so unconnected
You don’t see much of it
Baby,
You don't know
how much that means to me

My Way Of Saying Happy New Year

It's a new year,
Yet the sun still rises east,
It's only the first of January
I’m but a day older from the last year,
Nothings’ changed in the way I’m seen,
Tears still decide to fall by themselves,
I’m still watching from a distance,
The willpower must only get stronger, for the temptation still stays
The plastic smiles are starting to fail me
But hey at least it's a new year
