The Working Man

He wakes every morning before the rooster crows
He gets up and puts on his work clothes
He moves a little slower
His smile hangs a little lower
He knows he’s getting older
He can feel it in his shoulders
Not one to complain
He works through the pain
He doesn’t mind
It’s all part of the daily grind
He does what he does
All for the ones he loves

Feelings

Rising from the ashes
The lightning crashes
Pain is inevitable
Suffering is optional
Using everything in our arsenal
It’ll all become marginal
It’s said that time heals all wounds
What isn’t said that it doesn’t come soon
The memories may become faded
But we are still jaded
Although we take it in stride
Our feelings are justified

Little White Lies

Broken promise after broken promise
Chance after chance
Seems like we always do the same dance
When you slammed the door
My heart hit the floor
I ran to your car
On my knees
I begged you not to leave
You made it clear I’ll never be who you need
Backing out of the driveway
I watched my world slip away
Now I’m lying here in bed
Going crazy in my head
Checking texts to see if they been read
Wishing I could take back every tear you’ve shed
I don’t have to ask myself why
It was all because of my little white lies

Someday

Someday

Someday starts one day at a time
Someday we’ll both be just fine
Someday the mental abuse will be light as a feather
Someday we’ll have our lives together
Someday you’ll move on
Someday our love will be forgone
Someday I won’t be so numb
Someday that day will come
Someday you’ll wear another Diamond ring
Someday the one I gave you won’t mean a thing
Someday you’ll be happy again
Someday we’ll both only remember when

Redeemed

Redeemed

As I tasted the barrel of my nine
The Devil whispered it’s your time
He had taken all my shine
He said loving me was a crime
I’m no good to love
Not even the so called man up above
I gave the Devil a shove
Down came a White Dove
From the clouds stepped a man in white
He said Devil I’ve already won this fight
If you’ll remember for three days and three nights
We fought and I made things right
You see this sinner is paid for with my blood
My tears soon turned into a flood
My shine beamed
It was then I knew I had been truly redeemed
