Quietly You

   you’re so quiet,
it’s so quiet when you come,
        around here,
sometimes worried that you’ll leave me,
nowhere,
or here on the lounge,
not sure if there’s a difference,
be gentle yeah,
               be,
gentle now,
the space between my heart’s,
beats,
gets,
smaller,
and i breathe a breath,
a little faster,
        now,
the questions aren’t, isn’t,
if or how,
no what’s,
  or when’s
cause it’s here and now,
and i look at your eyes for a clue
and your mouth for a sound,
do you, want to be,
           around?,
i’m not sure if i care if you do or don’t,
because right,
     right now,
you and i is what we’ve seemed to have found,
so plant a seed in my chest,
and look at me, like i look at you,
i think that’s all i really need,
right now, all you really need to do,
what do you think?,
is there something that you think you’ve got to prove?,

Almost On the Edge of the Map

Almost on the edge of the map

Standing on the sand holding her board
watching the wave and tide
she knew no matter how far out she went
she’d have to come back this way
    here be dragons
    here be dragons
the sun sitting on the horizon
gleaming shimmer like a vikings hoard
a golden koi swimming
         tail flicking on its side
            here be dragons
today’s promise almost spent and frayed
            here be dragons
plunging out towards the heart at the end of the day
            here be dragons
she knew
no matter how far out
she’d have to come back
this way
            here be dragons

Stare At the Stars With You

I’ll sip whiskey and stare at the stars with you,
so don’t say it now, say it when it saves me,
when it turns me around,
when it means the strings attached ,
fall to the ground ,
but i’ll still sip whisky and stare at the stars with you,
listening to the wind,
standing on the sand,
watching the waves come in,
i’ll sip whiskey, and stare at the stars with you,
so don’t say it now,
say it when it saves me,
when it turns me around,
say it when i’m standing,
strong on solid ground,
say it when there’s nothing left to bleed,
there’s just those lights and you and me,
yes there’s nothing more i need,
then i’ll sip whisky,
and stare at the stars with you

We Both Know

We both know how this story goes,
that’s why i never want to get this close,
i’ll try not to stare too long into your eyes,
pulse beating a bit fast, timing slows,
we can’t kiss here, we can hold hands,
           when the lift doors close

Modern Day Blues For the Pandemic

I woke up this morning ,
still drunk from the night before,
we didn’t go anywhere,
we couldn’t go out the door,
so i got them lockdown blues,
them crazy covid lockdown blues,
my friend has cooked me a chicken,
and i’m still drunk from the night before,
it looks so good but all i can think of,
is let me out this door!,
cause i’ve got them lockdown blues,
them crazy covid lockdown blues,
but when i wake up in the morning,
and the lockdown is done,
i won’t be going out the door,
cause i’m still drunk from the night before!,
yeah cause i got them lockdown blues,
them crazy covid,
chicken and wine,
lockdown blues..,
