When I was just four years old our house caught fire one night. It was winter, and very cold. Our next door neighbor placed my bare feet in her oven, to warm up my toes, and today, I recall that moment, with a smile.

And you made me smile too. Love childhood memories. It is lovely that you remember a kind gesture, not so much the scary fire. I like the shape of the poem, like a typed smiley :)
