I Am the Colour Red
I Am The Colour Red I am the colour Red A bright colour it is said, The colour of the sunrise, A warm and fire glow Red. I would like to be a Green For Green is so serene; But as I have just said I am the colour Red. I would not want to be a Blue; A cool and distant hue. Perhaps I could be Gold, No, Gold is very old. I think I would like to be seen As verdant evergreen. Better than a Blue, No, Blue would be taboo. Maybe the colour Grey, But maybe not today, Perhaps Russet after all The colour of the fall. But that is a passing shade Of which uncertainty is made, Or I could be a Grey On another day, Better than a Blue That would never do, Rather be a Green, Yes, I could be seen As a Summer shade of Green. But after all is said I think I really am a Red. 13/09/17 For Contest 'Best Rhyming Poem, July - Sept 2017' By John Hamilton
