Which Path To Death
When I got my Final Notice that my breath and life will end My thoughts went to the journey there from now, until...the when For I only see two roads to go; one's dark the other's light My imminent death defined for me How I travel there is my right The darkness so deceitful easily hides its selfish ways Pity and anger, so natural to see the light behind, a maze Dark thoughts repress good memories, which leaves creeping terror left Persistent pecking goes unseen and constant is its theft To consume all of my energy, my will and strength to fight Make me think my peace is not, entwined within the light For darkness does not care, you're a hostage to it all It waits for lurking death, to make its final call In the light, that is so honest. I know what comes my way To accept my death, embrace its will Be strong in mind, I pray My strength is not for awaiting death darkness is not my fight. I struggle for calmness, in my want to live to find serenity within the light To know that I have loved, and am loved is my crown Surrounded by loyal devotion I'm ready, for where I'm bound Not dragged kicking and screaming or on my knees afraid to meet As lurking death approaches, on my feet I'll gladly greet I'll embrace the light to ease my soul, prepare us all for this place, unknown Have direction and gently feel my breath my last... then take me home
