Izzy Baby
She was so pale and frail looking, especially when asleep. Izzy Baby went back again to lick the wrinkled skin on the back of Mama’s hand. It was beginning to get cold when the loud knock came at the door. She jumped with fright as the door burst open and people in white uniforms and others in blue uniforms flooded into the room, but she sensed that they were there to help Mama- - -and they did. Her oxygen tank had not automatically switched and she had slowly lost consciousness. She looked at Izzy Baby and smiled. The message was not lost and Izzy curled up and went to sleep with only the tip of her ear touching Mama’s foot. But, it never lost contact. Charles Henderson © 9/2/2016
