My Friend
The scattered leaves of my mind, long lost thoughts oh so fine Waking moments of cognizant fire, fleeting clouds of funeral pyre Those broken blades of battles lost, dying embers in the frost Why is this, the place for me, as the wind please set me free? Ancient youth no longer spry even dreams no longer fly Winding memories far and near, none of them are ever clear I hear those words yet to speak, whispered softly, whispered weak Always foot prints following me, who has left them I cannot see Carousels wild horses ride, frightening demons from which I hide The endless turning of standing still while gazing yearning to the hill Be that the mount born to ride, be that the mount where we can hide Gazing up that slippery slope gazing endless for moments hope Can it be if I should climb, I’ll find those gates and they’ll open wide? Time tells nothing but endless repeats, heralding loudly our defeats. Sleep drugged tossing to and fro Siren’s calling it’s time to go Goodbye Dennis now I am less See you soon I do guess
