The poor bricks workers
I beheld them on the hottest summer of May, Are they bonded labours who lived in shanties?, Yes,they were the pitiless kiln proprietor's prey , And they were forced to stay in the sites as families. The rough shanties were five feet in height, And they were covered with flimsy plastics as roofs , Walls were made of loosely arranged bricks, were slight, No electricity for months and no fire and water proofs. Women bath in stagnant water at open trench, Alas , for them there were no specified working hours, Works began in dawn and went on till the night's edge, They barely got a few hours of sleep like the birds. Workers merely earned rupees 600 every 1000 bricks, They also transported the bricks from the field to the kiln, And they carried them on their head's grips, They were not paid even on a daily basis, it was a sin . Bonus or overtime was unknown to the innocents, The summer was a time to enjoy and relax probably, But they were not escaped the heat of summer currents, Workers are the children of God, treat them honestly.
