Is It Spring
Is it Spring? How long has it been? Is it Spring? I don’t see the grass growing, the lawns are dry, the leaves are falling off the trees and the temperature is burning at a hundred and thirty degrees. The cherry blossoms have come and gone, leaving the naked trees swaying on the dry lawn; the honey bees are nowhere to be found. Look at the pollen! They are scattered everywhere on the ground. Wear a mask when you enter the town. Is it Spring? open the door and let the fresh air in, stretch your hands above your head and fill your lungs with fresh air. I am going on a long journey to look for spring in another county, ruins and rubble lies on the ground and I cannot depart from the promiscuous town, there are eyes on every corner but courage will remove the barriers. Is it spring? Where has all the young lovers been? They use to flirt by the pool and take long rides in motor boats, and get drunk and scream and shout. The pool parties used to rake in lots of money; their guests are all from wealthy families, the suitors used to show up at midnight to dine with their partners under colorful lights, but now the place is empty and many people have left the town and brown dust is blowing over the street. Water is drained out of the pool and the universe rule. Is it Spring? Why the lights are so dim? You promise that it would be over by winter but it kept dragging longer and longer and one season overlapping the other. You never speak the truth, and you carry grudges from your youth; you don’t know what life s about? And you don’t know why some people get angry and shout; it has nothing to do with burden or stress; it is the appetite to give and the struggle to hold onto the life that we live, the moment of truth is drawing neigh and reality will come parachuting from the sky I have spring wrapped on mind and faith to get me there on time, I have dreamt of the days when everything around me will take on a life of its own and the ecstasy of the moment will unfold and everything around would look fresh and green and again. Water will run from the stream and saturate our dreams. The morning rises with the sky and the birds are singing sweet lullabies and a sense of calmness is running through the atmosphere, the forgotten strangers are speaking to their conscious mind and the heavens is crusading above the sky with a message to live or die. Is it Spring?
