When An Old Soul Relives Spring
Being old on the outside may look like your winter has come But inside your heart Spring has just begun - Peter Dome 2024. Beneath the weathered leathery furrows Wrinkles baggy folds and lines Says a face lived in And a map showing where they have been I don't always notice the facade After a while But more the soul and spirit inside I have sometimes talked to an elderly Lady And brought the little girl inside back to life When I ask them to tell me about their childhood Their cheeky eyes smile and twinkle As they look back And suddenly I don't see an elderly Lady But the child they were lives again Running through the fields wind in their hair Chasing butterflies Under blue unblemished sunny skies Apple scrumping and being chased Making dasiey chains with her friends On green meadows cheerfully Singing and humming a pretty tune Playing games in the school playground Walking through and skipping down country lanes Getting into trouble again and again Despising boys Playing Doctors and Nurses with their toys The friends they had And folk and characters they knew No longer around A resurrection of the spirit A soul refreshed A smiling warm heart Spring Had returned once more.
