And That Was When Part 3
And That Was When Part 3 Each day dawned, and brought its tide of newness. In those first years, while forming yourself You learned of the slant of light Dividing the falling night from the rising day The cool in the air Whispering of Winter. You felt each moment's piece of Eternity One by one by one Whole and Perfect, Banal and Profound. And That Was When Part 4 And that was when It all fell away behind you. You didn't notice; it was silent, The Magic that you lived in Gave place to the everyday. And that was when You missed the last signal From the world that once possessed you And awoke to another that wants to possess you Born of years of slow decay And you had to choose which one to embrace. Most take the second choice, Since it seems to offer greater freedom, But in the end it makes no difference Because both roads lead to the same destination. And that was when You headed off on one of the two roads, In the midst of or on the fringe of your peers. You paid the price, and reaped the rewards of those battered years.
