My Last Breath
My last breath is coming and might soon arrive though I don’t know the day or the hour of its birth. It’s a marriage some dread and for others, life’s bread, or deep drink from the well that some dream ends all thirst, a dessert at the end of a feast (where we pray to find room, which we doubt we deserve). Still, it’s rout when it comes (and you meet face to face what last breath holds in store)! Relativity puts a ‘charmed’ spin on what’s real. At times in our lives, we more hope to survive, and surrender the reins of control on this earth to a Nature that’s fine with our limits! Divine, it proclaims that the speed of light’s constant, the first shall be last, and that space between stars has a way of expanding that says there are stars off the rez we can’t reach in ships fast as a photon, that death is not death we can trust! (Does not being appeal)? Are dreams what you cherish? You Love life’s surprise? Do you think that you’re loved or more love you’re loved still? Can philosophy blow up a truth it can’t know? Are the dogmatic Right worse than pragmatic Left? Altruistic have less faith than slugs with a plan? Are folks acting or smart who think wisdom’s an art we must practice who hope it brings succor to life, that it rots on a shelf where it just gets admired? Embrace your life’s challenges, trust life’s demise! They’re two sides of a coin with Grace found in God’s will! Live in faith where you stand, for man’s truth shifts like sand! And what does catch some light, is it ours then to heft or judge gold that attaches to race, creed, or clan? Bless your read of this verse, if it’s truth or much worse! Bless all comments that praise, all that cut like a knife! Pray, my soul is God’s guest when my muse is retired! Brian Johnston 18th of July in 2020
