America's Homeless
AMERICA'S HOMELESS America is often called The land of milk and honey A place where anyone may come To make some easy money But if you will only look around I think that you will see The countless numbers without a home In the country of the free In this land of opportunity Where prosperity abounds Why must some be homeless Even in the smallest towns While funds are channeled overseas From a never ending list And our homeless ones go on ignored As though they don't exist In the greatest country on God's earth Men and women roam Seeking shelter wherever it's found But yet without a home So when will we become concerned And defend this noble cause To take care of the homeless And never should we pause To see that they are treated With dignity and respect To help them regain self-esteem And not suffer through neglect No longer should we turn aside From our sister and our brother But learn to walk beside them And show love for one another Curtis Moorman 3 May 1995
