Amid the Storms
Temperatures plummet across the land, Winter shouts as it takes command. Thunder rolls and lightning flashes, People run in spasmodic dashes. Looking for the safety of their home, No one, it seems, wants to roam. Streets are void of human life, Turned into rivers for the rain to flow Dams are taxed to their maximum load, Wary folk watched as they overflowed. Cars caught up in the rivers spate, Drivers rescued from a watery fate. The wind now rises and enters the stage, Folk stand at windows and watch it rage. How odd the world is just look around We groan at the rain lashing down, As we wonder if it will ever cease, Across the world there is great distress, Australian bush fires destroy relentless, Fires are razing the land, killing at will, Animals are dying, it's a bitter pill. Homes destroyed, many folk have died, Firefighters working as hard as they can, The strain is there in the face of each man. We need to pray without ceasing, everyone, For the rain, much needed, to calm that land. © Dave Timperley 08/01/2020
