Silent Sos
I strain my ears to hear you s i l e n c e The violence within your quiet voice s i l e n c e I wish to be a friend with you again s i l e n c e but I can’t stop the notes inside my head. “Silent night Holy night” S i l e n c e I’m afraid of my demons, they are released when we’re alone. That’s why I avoid you friend. Within my noise I can pretend that the walls aren’t closing in. So I ride a subway car Reading posters on the wall Images of pretty things As perfect faces gaze back at me I can not breathe the words they say S I L E N C E Still they tell me not so subtly I’m not good enough to be I hear their words screaming inside my head! Where are you Silence? Were we once not friends? The prophets whispered words I crave, neon daggers in my head! S i l e n c e Once again I find your company Beneath the ground and cobblestone I am finally alone and free and you old friend are here with me S I L e n c e Written upon my epitaph A sad and silent warning. “Our lonely lovely son, may he Rest In Peace.” Now I’m embraced by “my old friend”, Do you hear “The sound of Silence” ? Written July 29th 2019 For John Hamilton’s “Sound of Silence” Contest. Thanks for the inspiration John.
