I Am On Fire For Poetry Soup Right Now
I know this may surprise some of you. Not all. It’s not going to surprise my besties. But for others, Let me be the bearer of a Little surprise nugget of Information. I am OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE. Some of my obsessions are: Have as many grandchildren as I can, as fast as I can, This one isn’t as good as others because I cannot really DO ANYTHING FASTER HERE. Bring home as many dogs as I can, as fast as I can. My husband Joe has spent thousands of dollars on Heated dog sheds pipe-grounds of running water to Those dog-sheds, and copper and wire fencing. Many people used to drive by our property to point and stare, As they thought we had a prisoner of war camp In our yard. Don’t worry; I would set the dogs on their cars. It would make me laugh to see 19 dogs chasing their car. I had 20 dogs, but they took turns guarding me, so one Usually Lucky or Blue stayed home to make sure There weren’t any bears eating my head or anything. To be fair, they may have been pointing out the 218 deer carcasses in the ditch, our dogs had dragged home after hunters skinned and flayed, and took what they wanted. This really made me mad actually, as the deer is my power animal, And I stand in front of them sometimes when orange vest points their guns. Luckily, we are country-folk, and try to get as far Away from the NOC people as possible; non-Obsessive-Compulsive if you need to know. My obsessions are almost never chosen by me. Someone will say something or do something, and bam. I’m ready to DO it! It’s a God thing. Modesty deems me to tell you that curiously enough, I am the most fun party animal I have ever met, And believe me, I’ve met a lot of them. I land things unexpectedly faster than people searching for these same things Could ever expect to get them = a job, a house, an obsession. I was so used to getting every job I went for, that I called about my Second interview once, supposing they had I had forgotten to meet their call time, and Was stunned they were not giving it to me.WHAT???? When my husband attended a little artist camp show for our 9 year old granddaughter, Dolly, he came home and reported that children were showing off one two or three things. Then the lady in charge said with a flourish, “And this, is the Dolly wall.” Dolly had created 212 sculptures, puppets, paintings, collages, and a stuffed gorilla that week. And who do you think Dolly belongs to? B I N G O. So I started buying canvases for Dolly, and I built a little art studio. One day, as I was sitting there, nursing my lemonade, watching Dolly draw and paint the door and the walls of the art studio she Said, “Grandma, why don’t you paint with me?” Because canvases cost $5 to $8 each I told her. At this time, I did not believe I was worth that kind of cash, really. But Dolly is persistent and tenacious, and I discovered that I have a little knack for drawing and cartooning and painting and creating and I got juried into some art shows and sold about eighty Paintings. Which made me sad, because I wanted to keep them. So now I have 412 paintings and black light rooms, because I love to paint in exciting, vivid NEONS. Yes, I am a hippie. Thank you very much. My latest obsession? Poetry Soup. I love it. I adore it. I am having fun with it. I am on fire, in a frenzy For it. But, my loves, it’s an obsession that will probably last about 2 years. So know when I leave I still Love you, I’ve just obsessed myself on. It will not be anything personal. Love, Your Caren, the Poet, the one who just discovered that she LOVES this right now.
