Poem
When I close my eyes and reflect on the past, Where it was just you and me knowing the choices I made, At that instant, where it meant spending every day with a hole in my heart. A hole that I spend years trying to mend. The memories I tried to bury and locked away like a relic, Never to be found again. When I see you it changes, when I stand next to you my void seems to cure itself, Why do you taunt me so? I gave up our love because I thought maybe? Maybe it was the best thing for us, Maybe it would make things better, you would treat me better, Not take me for granted. Just wanted you know and appreciate the love I had for you, Maybe then you would understand how I feel, Why I made that choice regardless of how I felt, The battle I had to fight with my heart and the sacrifices I made to run away. Years passed and somehow you were always in my life, We moved on,yet you always were near, No matter how hard I tried to hide, you found me, But Why? I don’t understand, I can’t. Our love is not here it can’t be. One heartbroken the other regrets , How can this be? There was this place I saw you one day and I just couldn’t take my eyes away from yours, Yours eyes locked to mines in an intoxicating gaze, The hundreds of people in the crowd didn’t even seem to exist, We stared for a while, as you came closer. Why did you come closer? You touched me, you held me, and you kissed me, All this time, all these years you were here, You choose someone else, But yet you would always come to me, Is there something you want to tell me? It made no sense you belong to her and I belonged to him, But why is my heart and soul paralyzed? I always knew in my heart, but you? I don’t know. Say it damn it!! Stop taunting me, I can see it in your eyes, I can feel in my heart, I know, Why deny it? Why fight it baby. BY:SHIVANEE BRIDGEMOHAN 07.03.15 Revised Poem
