Poem
I may look like a millionaire, But I'm living in despair. I'm running on zero, But to many I'm a hero. While others have food to eat, I'm out begging on the street. My pocket is empty, But hopes and dreams I have plenty. What I've been through many couldn't survive, But every day I'm thankful just to be alive. Many see me but they don't know my story, How I've been used ,abused and cheated by family. Many have turned their backs on me, Because when they look all they see is poverty. I'm not able to lend them a helping hand anymore, So no matter how I knock, beg or plea they just shut the door. Putting the needs of others above my own was always my priority, Now look at me, being robbed of my humanity. I often cry myself to sleep, And not a day goes by that I don't weep. Quitting on life has never crossed my mind, So a solution I must at all cost find. My children are depending on me to be there, I must find a way to show them I always care. Family members have kicked me when they know I'm already down, I'll pray for them and wish them well through every frown. How could they really treat me this way? When all I ever did was be good to them night and day. God bless the strangers who never leave me out, Who take the time to listen and know what I'm about. My life has been a constant struggle from birth, But God I see you; I know I have purpose on this earth. If only I could turn back the hands of time, I would have saved every penny; counted every dime. Sickness ravaged my body and left me for dead, But I refuse to give up and vow to fight instead. A brighter day is coming when my struggles will be a distant memory, And in that moment the world will stand in awe of my story.
