Poem
Like free nymphs we were all flying high in the skies While dancing, we were drinking liquor from our favorite flowers We would dive deep into the ocean, and would catch our favorite pearls ‘How invincible we are’, we thought No one has the courage to lay their hands on us, though they would try For we stood by each other, our hearts filled with love But then you appeared like a bolt from the blue The nights from that moment were very dark, without any star Sun never shined on us since then You hit us all with your venomous arrows We were expecting it to be from Cupid But it started separating us all from each other It spread in the whole world, spared no one You pushed us all in the streets of panic And forced us to knock on the door of Death Like a cunning enemy, you made us get locked In our little cells with only window of depression We have been living alone since then Sleep too has abandoned us along with Peace Markets closed, schools shut down Fear, misery, and sorrows can be sensed everywhere How beautiful, how precious life was Only then we realized You infected us all, sucked the blood of thousands But your thirst for human blood won’t die Like a Vampire you chased us all, and you are still chasing They say we might take years to defeat it God knows how many more innocent souls Will become your victims We are brave but we are worried Not necessarily for ourselves But for our loved ones We are tired of running of you Now we hope and we pray The sky, with its fried iron may blow you away You can’t be seen with naked eyes Yet You built walls among us No parties, no playing, no seeing friend It's a complete lockdown But I am sure together we will bring you down For humanity still takes breaths You won't last long Sun must rise again and birds must sing soon Together we will defeat you COVID-19 Mother earth too must have recovered by them Her scars are healing... A beautiful life awaits us... (PAGHUNDA ZAHID) March 14th, 2020)
