That Was Then; This is Now
THEN
I was
carefree, and
I wished to live
forever, and yet
always inside me was
the knowledge that I would grow
by learning more and taking on
new responsibilities. Trials
taught me that nothing in life is certain.
I swam life’s flow in each new wave that came-
as a wife, mother, teacher and friend.
Some childhood beliefs I forsook.
I hope I’ve evolved although
in many ways I’ve stayed
the same. However,
I think I could
accept death
with grace
