Warrior
Thousands of years of civil living have tamed the human mind
We make our laws and behavior codes to serve us one and all
We live in peace and acceptance of the vagaries we find
To protect society and ensure that we do not fall
And so for the most part we behave as model citizens
But deep inside from primordial times rests a sleeping beast
A solitary creature formed from the ancient denizens
That is called Warrior - at home with either the battle or feast
In the beginning the Creator pondered what He had done
And He saw that it was a violent place - not safe for Man
So he gave Man an instinct which he called Warrior or "The One"
That would be charged with Survival and would always be at hand
As the millenia have passed and Man has become sedate
Do not be deceived that the Warrior may have become docile
He is as much to human instinct as Creation to fate
And when Man's survival is threatened The Warrior turns hostile
So we may call it survival instinct or just common sense
But when the Warrior is unleashed then no other name will do
He is charged with your survival and you are in good hands thence
So if you pray at night say thanks for the Warrior inside you.
